With family living in the area and when visiting from Auckland this has recently become our go-to place for a slap-up meal. Have always known it was there, and perhaps (very unreasonably as it turns out) have never expected much. So when someone we know recommended it for superb steaks we had to give it a go. I tend to avoid ordering steak for being disappointed, but have been there twice in the last couple of months and my steak has been superb! I also know that the lamb is amazing, as this is what the parents will invariably order. All for a reasonable price and with very relaxed and hospitable service levels. A hidden gem - no more!

Lovely atmosphere in both cafe and well-stocked shop. The vegan salads I had were beautiful. Fresh, healthy food can be enjoyed in a lush, green garden with abundant flowers and a running stream...it doesn’t get more relaxing than this. Excellent spot for a break on a road trip or an otherwise busy day. Good parking opportunities as well.
Highly recommend the food and service at this cafe. Chips were so fresh and came with homemade tomato sauce which was full of flavour. Also had pizza and it was beautiful. With definitely come back

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT - 5 AUGUST 2017: We are excited to revitalise Cafe Sandspit, an absolutely amazing, little cafe, that offers spectacular views over the Hauraki Gulf. Situated at Sandspit Wharf, we are conveniently located to Kawau Cruises, so drop in
On the tip of Sandspit next to the wharf sits this café. The large windows face out to sea and you can watch the gannets diving and the boats coming and going. The fish of the day was snapper that had been caught that morning so lunch was an easy choice. Mind you the other choices on the menu did provide some hesitation. We were not disappointed. Lunch was yummy and we stretched to share an apple pie to follow. The pastry was excellent and filling very good. The café was comfortable and roomy with free newspapers. A nice place to spend time and watch the world go by.

Award Winning cafeteria and chocolaterie. A Kiwi styled menu, just like our nanas used to bake: home-made cabinet food and specialty drinks. Next door in the Chocolaterie are hand-made chocolates, British sweets, Dutch licorice, Kiwi lollies, and gourmet
The speed of customer turnover and the numbers inside are the start of a good experience. This place is busy but the wait is short and the staff very friendly. We stopped for a bite to eat and a coffee, both exceeded expectations. Espresso was just right and if anything shows up a barista, its a poorly drawn espresso in a cold or large cup. This place has baristas that know their job and deliver a great product. They would teach a few other places!Good range of food and for the GF eaters, plenty to choose from.Woo Hoo! Thanks so much for the feedback, it's great to know that the hard work and training and coaching is working. I'll pass your comments onto the team. We really appreciate your feedback, and your lovely rating - pop in and make yourselves known next time - we love to make new friends! Susan

Our favourite cafe while we were camping at Martin's Bay. The food was good quality. Selection of cabinet as well as menu. Coffee was top notch. Cottage garden surroundings peaceful. Peanut butter (made on site) is a winner. Buy a jar to take away. Prices are very reasonable. Staff v. friendly.

A friendly little beach side cafe
We had a nice lunch here. My only complaint is that the staff were a little too attentive! As soon as we emptied a cup or plate someone would appear to remove it, which made us feel a bit hurried. But they have a great selection of tasty food and some nice smoothies. All the usual cafe fare.

Our 4th visit here. First couple of times were fantastic. The last 2, Feb and April this year, we have been very disappointed. The coffee is still great but their famous sticky buns are now awful. Great location but unfortunately will now look for a different cafe.
