Had Breakfast with the family, kids had pancakes which were as to be expected, my wife and I had smashed avo and bacon, it was actually really nice, nothing flash, but freshly made and tasty. Great coffee to, best in town I reckon.
Found this beautiful spot on our last day in Longreach but thoroughly enjoyed our al fresco lunch of homemade quiches and salad plus delicious hummingbird cake in their lovely shady garden.Every seat was taken by the time we left and wish we'd discovered this spot earlier in our stay - we'd been really missing fresh salads and fruits while travelling in the outback and it was great to find such a varied menu. Arrive early to grab a seat!

McGinnessâ Restaurant is a licensed restaurant within Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach. It has an aviation theme to compliment the museumâs mission of telling the story of Qantas Airways Ltd. With model aircraft flying overhead, views of the Longreach
Thereâs something strange going on at the Qantas Founders Museum. I had to wait almost 10 minutes for the staff to (a) notice me and (b) bother to interrupt their chat in order to take my money. Then, when I called into the on-site McGinnessâs for lunch, same thing...! Customers appear to be a very low priority here... and Iâve been twice, so my experience wasnât a once only event. When I finally did get someoneâs attention, I discovered the kitchen closes at 2pm. WHAT...? The Museum shuts at 5pm, but the cafe closes the kitchen 3 hours earlier. I managed to order a coffee and cake - all that was left. I returned to the museum for a second visit this morning (around 10.15am) and ordered a coffee, but was told it would be 5-10 minutes as the machine is âwarming upâ... 75 minutes after they opened...!Thereâs a strange culture in place here. Ignore the customers for as long as you can and then, do not provide any service whatsoever. This place is about as joyful as a snake bite.Panther029 thank you for your review and we would like to apologise for your experience, this is not acceptable. Qantas Founders Museum and McGinness Restaurant are committed to providing the best customer service and this has not happened to you. We will be following this matter up with our Customer Service Managers and restaurant and museum staff. Over the Summer months, Qantas Founders Museum and McGinness Restaurant is open from 9am - 4pm and the restaurant served cooked meals from 9am - 2pm. The restaurant is still able to provide a variety of drinks, cakes and snacks between 2-4pm. We are sorry this was your experience and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
