Billing itself as one of Denmark's friendliest towns, Kolding certainly appears welcoming—its streets lined with cherry red Danish flags that seem to be constantly waving hello. A medieval castle towers over vibrant parks that bloom with flowers and medicinal spices. On balmy days families will be grateful for SlotssøBadet, an extraordinary waterpark that's a blast for all ages.

We went for brunch on a Sunday. Please notice you have to book in advance. All food is made from own vegetables and live stock or locally sourced organic food. The food is good and the atmosphere friendly. The freshly baked bread is to die for.The best part however is that the children can play outside, pick eggs or fruit or visit the sheep. You can book Emmashave for groups and parties. I did for a company event and it was a great experience.
We popped in for a vanilla latte and a cookies and cream Frappuccino in the middle of the day The latte was just what I needed and tasted great We were served quickly, the staff were friendly and my only disappointment was they never asked for my name to write on the cup .. thatâs part of Starbucks, putting the wrong names on the cup and shouting it out Anyway, fabulous coffee and relaxing bit of people watching

Three generations of our family visited this restaurant on a Saturday night. We knew to make reservations because the restaurant is rather small, and it was full. The service was quite good, though the servers were slightly over-worked by the full house. The teenagers ordered Nachos, apparently their go-to when they come here, and they weren't disappointed (they like spicy food, so I don't feel that the Nachos were too bland for anyone's taste. Two of us ordered steak, one with bacon, one without. My rare steak was just as rare as I like it, which is really rare. I was surprised and delighted at the quantity of vegetables, a summer squash with carrots sauteed medley. Too many potatoes for me, but our son-in-law, a Dane, thought there were just enough, and he had just enough bacon, too (way too much for me, so I'm glad I didn't order that). Daughter and husband ordered pasta. Palla Valle Verde was good, but my husband isn't as great a fan of bacon as the Danes, so it could have had less for his taste. The Penne Marcello with a tomato cream sauce, beef and chicken, was excellent. The Belgian waffle with ice cream was a whole lot of a dessert, so I'm glad that was ordered by the men. I had the creme brulee, which was lovely, with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream served with it. A lovely meal, and much more than we are used to eating. But we'd go back again, for sure.

On holiday in Denmark we took the opportunity to make a Sunday visit to the Trpholt Cenre for Danish Art & Design in Kolding and on arrival noticed that Sunday Brunch was on offer for 160dk (about £17) including entrance to the exhibition. This seemed a very reasonable proposition so we decided to combine our vist with our midday meal. This was one of our better decisions! When we arrived at the cafe we found a vast array of typically Danish food. Among the items available were cold meats, cheeses, herrings, salad vegatables and pickles along with hot bacon, scrambled eggs and sausages. There was a varitey of breads and spreads, fruits, yoghurts and pastries along with coffee, tea and fruit juices. While the decor was a little utilitarian and it was fairly noisy with friendly family groups the food was plentiful and very good. Among the exhibits was a range of portraits of the Danish Royal Family and we learned that the Queen of Denmark had lunched in the cafe as recently as 31st August. If her lunch was as good as ours then she would have enjoyed her visit too!

At Cafe Klein do we FOOD WITH LOVE - because it tastes the best. Cafe Klein is a cozy cafe on Søndertorv in Kolding City directly by the stream. Here you get nice well prepared food directly from Denmark's maybe smallest kitchen. Here we make FOOD WITH LO
Nice location by the water. Coffee and cake fair (but not great) and price about standard for area. We did not eat a full meal but they did look very good as they went by on the way to other tables. Staff, while not effusive, pleasant enough. Could be nice for lunch.

Den Blå Bistro (The Blue Bistro) is the oldest in town. Our concept is simple! Fresh ingriedients from Denmark and France, casual atmosphere and service inspired by the French bistro style.
Enjoy a wonderful Sunday dinner with beef bernaice "ad libitum" and creme brulee. The restaurant is cozy, the staff was very friendly, and the prizes reasonable. What can you ask for more?
