We visited for dinner for two. Only four tables and counter so you should better book beforehand. Interior is comfortable with easy lighting. We ordered salad, quiche, baked shiitake with Gorgonzola and stake. They are all excellent with fine touch for details, how they cooked, seasoning and combinations of local materials. We paid little more than 9000JPY for food and two glasses of Burgundy and thought reasonable. They also have extensive list of fine wine centered on Burgundy style of which some of them are offered by the glass, which is rare here.Only problem of this small sweet âcafeâ is that it is totally understaffed. This restaurant is run by chef and his wife and thatâs it. Donât expect frequent and timely service. You are lucky if you have table here.

Japan loves curry! However, most curry restaurants are Japanese curry restaurants, not "authentic" curry restaurants. This Nepalese gem of a restaurant prepares curry dishes like no other. You'll wish you had a Cafe Sajiro in your neighborhood. The restaurant is tucked away behind Ginza Dori, across from the Karuizawa Kai tennis complex. It is charmingby day, romantic by night. The staff couldn't be more polite or friendly. They treat every customer as if they were a guest in their home. There is outdoor seating to be enjoyed in the summer months. Take-out is available and recommended. The restaurant is closed from the end of November until the beginning of April.

Some of the cheeses are good, some not so, but EVERYTHING is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE !!!The woman that works there has a cold attitude. No free tasting, but if she feels that you are most likely to buy, she will give you some to taste, otherwise, not !!The goat cheese is very good, the rest, I did not find so good. The Camembert cheese, is certainly not that good, but the prices it is a big WOW... At almost a $150 per Kg. it is by far, the most expensive cheese shop, I have ever seen anywhere in the world !!Have to admit, the black goat cheese is really good and it was on a 30% discount, so I bought a small one (well, they have only small ones), otherwise, regular prices, I would not buy. A few years ago, bought the Camembert cheese to try it. It was no good and very expensive, so I am not falling to the same trap twice. If you want to buy something, I recommend the goat cheeses. Good quality, for those.

This place does not only serve coffee but sells coffee and pressed coffee makers by Bodum. My capuccino was excellent. There is a separate space where one can sit and have a good cup of coffee. Price is reasonable just like in the US or slightly less because of the exchange.

Long queue on weekends for the famous soft-serve ice cream but worthwhile waiting. As seats are limited in the shop, people always queue outside on weekend and vacation period. Famous for years, but it's recommended to try if you'd visit Karuizawa town.

If you prefer the soft fluffy Japanese style bread, look away. This place prides itself in its French style baguettes and all.We bought the croissant, mozzarella cheese and tomato ball, cheese and cranberry stick and autumn edition chestnut and cheese horseshoe bread. The croissant was fluffy but lacked the crunch. The mozzarella and tomato ball was good but guess best heated which we didn't. I personally loved the chestnut bread and cranberry stick was pretty good too. We also got the rye bread with dried fruits, walnut and orange peel that we had for brekky the next day. Loved it too.I would beat the crowd and go back to this place again for sure if I'm around this area.

Looking for a coffee and something to eat we headed into Sawamura. Was a little chilly so sat upstairs which was very comfortable. Wasnât expecting too much but was impressed with my Latte, definitely the best that we have had in Japan so far. Also ordered toasted ham & cheese panini which were delicious. Coffees were 495 yen and paniniâs 480 yen. They also had lovely looking bakery items.
