We have owned & operated Trails Cafe and Cafe Catering since 2003. Our cafe is casual, homey, cozy and furnished with old large harvest tables great for large gatherings. The cafe boasts a rich history of traditional inspired comfort food and unparalleled
I was excited to eat at Trails. I love small town atmosphere, cooking and down home service. Trails has the atmosphere with wood flooring, country store-like displays and cozy seating arrangements.Service falls way short. I was there for Thursday lunch, and all the servers were very young and not friendly. I saw no interactions with any of the customers that I would call small-town friendly like you would expect.I ordered the open-face roast beef sandwich, but was told they were out. That seems a little early since I was ordering at 12:30 PM. I ended up with the Chicken Strip Dinner. The chicken was beautifully cut and had the potential to be awesome, but the deep fry grease was too much. It was on my fingers, face and running in the plate. It was rough on my stomach later in the day. The salad bar had a nice variety. The potato salad was sweet with a bit too much runny sauce.I would not make a return visit. I really wanted down-home service from caring people. I also wanted great comfort food cooking, but did not get it either.Hi CraftBeers! Thank you for your detailed review as it does aid us in the operation of our bustling cafe. The service part really, really disappoints me. Typically our servers during the day shift are extremely friendly, accommodating and fun. They have all been with us a very long time. They were pleased to see your review about âvery youngâ. I do know we had a large group in The Station and wondering if we may have needed extra help that particular day. Nonetheless, we missed the mark with you and apologize for that. We are typically known as âsmall town friendlyâ. The roast beef did run out that day. I remember being frustrated with my kitchen manager because the roast did not get put in the oven the night before. We slow roast it for 12 hours. It really is delicious and might have changed the course of this review. I do love our homemade chicken strips and unsure why they would have been so greasy. We do take reviews very seriously and would love for you to try us again. We did miss the mark on this particular day for which we are very apologetic. Thank you for your time! If you could email or call me, I do have a few more questions so I can address a few things with staff. 785-364-2786 or [email protected]
My son and I often go in to get a special cup of coffee. We have wonderful conversation while our coffee is made. We always enjoy to the last drop :)

Great little lunch spot to gather with friends and family. Sandwiches, salads, yummy desserts & homemade soups. Gluten free and vegatarian options.
I only had a chance to stop in one day for lunch but was pleasantly surprised by this charming little deli on the square in Holton. Very nice couple who said that they were the third owner since October of 2018. That was worrisome but my pulled pork sandwich was just what the doctor ordered. Nothing flashy although the new interior looked very nice. Would recommend for sure.
