Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder is one of Melbourne's most established cafes - housed in a carefully restored Victorian building dating from 1860, on one of Melbourne's busiest shopping strips, Bridge Road.
A very good friend selected this well known venue for a late breakfast....well call it brunch. Parking is always a challenge being right opposite the Epworth hospital. Going towards the city the clear way stops at 10:00am and I was surprised to find a number of available car parks on a paid meter or via the PayStay app.We sat inside along the main window. There is also good outside seating. My soy latte was alright but not fantastic. No coffee art, for my taste too hot and consequently the milk wasnât textured right. I opted for sour dough toast with marmalade and had to ask for butter. I received a generous 3 slices (2 would have been all I needed) but interesting the jam was just enough for 2 slices.Considering the café wasnât very full, the service was patchy. Regardless, the café and larder has a great feel and a must to walk into the temp controlled cheese room....making this place an institution after all.

Just moved into a new office in the same precinct and were searching for a decent place nearby. Happen to come across Top Paddock. It was indeed a great choice. The ambiance, hospitality everything you ask was of top notch. The coffee (latte double shot) was one of the finest I have ever had in Melbourne. The breakfast dish eggs benedict was just awesome (Slow Cooked Pulled Beef Brisket) was cooked to perfection. Well since my new office in just 50 meters away, I am sure I will be visiting this awesome place many more times in near future.

3.7. First impressions good. We attempted to stop here for lunch around 12pm but no tables were available sadly. We went to Locâs cafe up the road instead and that was terrific. We returned to Hello Sailor later though for a cleansing coffee.I must say we very much liked what we saw here. Itâs a really lovely fit out. Bright and stylish. Wonderful greenery around. Good playlist on. A great feel overall was our strong impression. A lovely pkace. Theyâre at best practice here with water with free sparkling water on tap. Exactly as it should be. Onto more important things. The coffee here is superb. Smooth, silky and substantive. It was expertly made and we loved our long black and flat white respectively. Add a salted caramel cookie and all was good with the world.Nice place. Weâll make it for a meal here next time. The dishes other people were tucking into nearby looked good.

Popular place with plenty outdoor and inside seating.Great menu choice with all day brekkie items and some more lunch type options. My friend had eggs benny which looked and tasted great. I opted for the super bowl with added chicken. Huge portion and filled me for the day, tasty as anything too. Unfortunately I thought my coffee wasnât anything special for Melbourne terms hence 4/5. Would still return though.

Specialty coffee
Popped in for a coffee and toast and wow what a good find, spacious tables, good ambience no staff focussed doof doof music, newspapers great coffee and the sourdough was amazing. A good find indeed.

It is a rare thing to find a cafe/restaurant willing to do half serves but this is my second time of being accommodated. I love that I donât have to waste food I know I am unable to eat and enjoyed my toast by a beautiful sunny window overlooking the outdoor garden. The chef made a point of visiting me to tell me that in this day and age he believed it imperative to accommodate customers needs. A huge thankyou for this and for supporting the non-wastage of food in a time when so many have little or nothing to eat.

There is a reason Shanklin are the top rated cafe in their area. Everything about the menu is quality. I enjoyed a milkshake and a burger and they were both fantastic. Great vibe, lovely staff and a perfect meal. Add to your list for sure!

Ok so, I use ONLY these beans in my machine at home as thereâs no denying they are THE best beans for making a perfect at-home coffee. However one day I decided to actually TRY a coffee at AXIL. I was so disappointed; it was terribly weak and barely warm. I drank it between the counter and their front door. Hhhhmm, I thought for a café that prides themself on the best beans in Australia (?) the coffee would be great. Terribly disappointed.
