Called in here with my partner on the way to Exeter after a weekend in Bude. As it was raining, the cafe was very busy. The place was very clean and the service was very good. We enjoyed the coffee and cake, but would have enjoyed it more without the smell of the wet dog on the table next to us and the dogs at 3 more tables. ! I am an animal lover but feel that food establishments are not the sort of places I like to see them.

Lovely spot, good food and a nice range too. Always reassuring to see a shorter and more focused menu rather than one that rambles.

We are a family run coffee shop, we offer hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, cupcakes and tray bakes. Why not try our speciality, a Chocolate Dipping Platter
Harry Potter afternoon tea! Very well thought out with caring touches, even down to Harry Potter music whilst we ate. Food was lovely, staff are attentive and very friendly. No tight fists in this cafe, plenty of cream for scones (more available on request), bottomless tea/coffee and more food than we could eat (and boxes available to take home what we couldn't eat!). Superb place to visit, we traveled an hour to eat here and it was more than worth it. It was busy for a rainy Tuesday which is always a good sign within itself, despite room full of customers it wasn't too loud and we could still sit and chat (which in a number of restaurants/cafe is not always possible) very impressed and would definitely go again.

We were on a coach trip and caught the free bus to the pannier market from where we walked down to the river without finding anywhere for a cream tea, so were delighted when we came across Velvet and Vanilla which really fitted the bill perfectly. The scones were warm and fresh and we got chatting to the family on the next table who were from Cornwall, so naturally we were asking if the jam topped the cream, or the cream topped the jam. We agreed that the most important thing was to enjoy the experience, and as long as you did, then what did it matter how you ate it! The service was friendly, and it was just how you'd expect cream tea to be in Devon.

This is a warm, friendly, delightful Cafe where two lovely ladies and their staff produce delicious cost effective meals and where nothing is too much trouble. Their hot chocolate is the best in town and I should know because I must have sampled all that Bideford has to offer

Two visits - two delicious lunches! This is a super place and is in a lovely peaceful location on the Tarka Trail. I've attached some photos which probably communicate much more than what I can write in words. Freshly cooked food, healthy local ingredients (largely), good value for money. A great destination for a ride on the Trail. There are occasional problems with the internet connection (provider problem rather than the fault of the owners) which can cause the card machine to go down so make sure you have some cash on you - just in case. Can't fault it and we're definitely going to try and pop over for one of their Summer Saturday Pizza Nights.

The Puffing Billy Trading Co. offers a range of made to order local food from light bites for cyclists and walkers to a full Sunday carvery.
We chanced upon the Puffing Billy today while walking the Tarka Trail and were pleasantly surprised. On the rails outside are two engines and carriages which serve as a reminder that this was once a railway station.A popular spot with visitors, the staff were friendly and helpful while the food and drink were of excellent quality.A great place to visit that is a little bit different.

Once again another visit to our favourite eating place in Great Torrington. Jamie was his normal enthusiastic self and Claire just got on with the job in hand. The gammon ham, eggs and chips absolutely perfect, SWMBOS had tuna and cheese panini, the others had eggs and chips, no moans from anyone, just mutterings about how good the food was. The service great and the food fantastic. Thank you once again Claire and Jamie we will be back.Thank you for your review and always look forward to seeing you all again
