Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Durango. Once a frontier mining town, Durango draws thousands of tourists year-round for the myriad outdoor recreational activities and scenic beauty. Mountain bikers, rafters, kayakers, horseback riders, rock climbers, hikers, campers, hunters and fishermen are drawn to the two-million acre San Juan National Forest and to the San Juan mountains, the largest range in the Rockies. But the city's biggest tourist draw is a nine-hour historic train ride in a vintage steam locomotive. The Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, which hauled precious metals in the 1880s, now takes tourists for a 47-mile, open-air journey through mountains and forests and past abandoned mines to historic Silverton and back. Children and train buffs will relish the chance to climb into a locomotive and pore over railroad memorabilia at the railroad's museum. Skiers flock to the Durango Mountain Resort in winter, which also offers hiking, fishing, rafting and horseback riding in warmer months. Slow down your pace with a stroll past splendidly restored Victorian buildings in historic Downtown Durango and wind up a very active weekend in a local brewpub or saloon.

I like to visit in the late mornings for coffee, or on their open mic nights. I always get great service and the coffee is really tasty. I recommend a lavendar mocha or a chai latte. It is a quiet place to sit and chat or read a book on the patio.

The "feel" is just right...a diner of the past..! The staff is phenomenal with suggestions and help with right choices from the huge menu. Obviously this crew has fun and loves their regulars and the many tourists as well.I had my "go to diner dish " from my youth...Hot beef sandwich drenched in perfect bound gravy and served with mashed potatoes for sure! Could , sadly, only eat half of it...Great stop ...help patronage the dying diner breed...you''ll enjoy this one!

Four of us stopped in for a late lunch and judging by the parking lot we didn't think we'd get in, but sure enough we got seated right away. A very friendly, informative waitress came over almost immediately. We each ordered something different and all were very pleased. One had the enormous, but delicious gyro, huge! Another the BLTA, and said it was a great sandwich. I had a phillie steak sandwich which was delicious and filled to the brim with beef, peppers and onions, and cheese, excellent. Even the fries were great. My wife had the Cobb salad she said was perhaps the best cobb salad she had ever had. We will be going back, what a great place!

Breakfast and Lunch Restaurant Cafe in Durango Co
Old school diner decor, but all new. Had breakfast and the hash browns were awesome! Nice and crispy with good seasoning. Portions were huge and wait staff was super friendly.Only downside is we got there right when they opened and the specials weren't yet available. Tons of parking - it's in a strip mall right off the main road through town (550). Very easy to get to but can be a little tricky to spot.

Steamworks Brewing Co. Opened its doors in Durango in September 1996. A favorite watering hole for locals and visitors alike, the brewpub has much more to offer than award-winning craft beer. Known as a town meeting place, Steamworks enjoys a bustling, fu
We had an amazing meal with wonderful beer, food and service. Maddie, our waitress, seemed to really be excited about the beer offerings and the food. She was really attentive to us having a couple small kids too. Thankfully she recommended the Dirty burger too. It was incredible. Probably in the top five or ten burgers I have ever had in my life. The cheese curd appetizer and dirty fries appetizers were great. Our kids loved them as much as we did. The kids menu was super reasonable for the quality of the food and price.Maddie knew the beer menu and was a great waitress. This was one of our best meals on vacation and our only regret was not having the time to hit Steamworks up again on this trip. The service was super prompt, but we didn't feel rushed. We ordered beers and the two appetizers. The apps were at the table about four minutes later and the beers soon followed. Great service and food. You cannot go wrong.

Stopped by for lunch after reading all the positive reviews. Maybe we were expecting something stellar, but were underwhelmed by the whole experience. The atmosphere is old west and probably the best thing about this place. Service was average and nothing special. The food was not particularly good. Edible, but not great. Walked away feeling disappointed.

This was just an awesome breakfast with fresh, hot coffee, homemade biscuits, GREAT home fries! I had the traditional Benedict, which was yummy - hollandaise was creamy big light. Son had the smothered burrito, which he said was greet with just the right amount of heat (too hot for me undoubtedly). BLT was great along with regular egg dish. Highly recommend!
