Daugavpils (Latvian pronunciation: [ˈdaʊɡaʊpils] ( listen); Latgalian: Daugpiļs [ˈdaʊkʲpʲilʲsʲ]; Russian: Даугавпилс [ˈdaʊɡəfpʲɪls]; see other names) is a city in southeastern Latvia, located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city gets its name. Daugavpils literally means "Daugava Castle". It is the second largest city in the country after the capital Riga, which is located some 230 kilometres (143 miles) to its north-west. Daugavpils is located relatively close to Belarus and Lithuania (distances of 33 km (21 mi) and 25 km (16 mi) respectively), and some 120 km (75 mi) from the Latvian border with Russia. Daugavpils is a major railway junction and industrial centre and lies approximately midway between Riga and Minsk.

In a town full of plain, boiled meat, Abra-Kebabra offers amazingly fresh and delicious food. Their pitas offered shaved rotisserie meats that are full of flavor. Pitas come in 3 sizes. Go Small unless you want to eat for an entire day. This is the only place in Daugavapils that we visited more than once.

Food is not superb, but it's ok, coffee mugs are large, atmosphere is nice, colourful and comfortable.Recommended to come for breakfast and when on a rush.

We were doing some business in the town and it was time for lunch. Someone at gas station recommended that there is a cafe few blocks up the road and we decided to give it a try. The place is part of a guest house or hotel, as they call themselves in English. They offer a two-meal course plus a drink and bread for EUR 2.50 per person. The food was not that great, but for this price it was more that one could expect. The waitress was not that friendly, but she did her job well and we did not need to wait for food much at all.They also have free WiFi internet connection and parking for guests.

This is a good place to have meals if ou happen to be there for whatever reason. I wasn't very hungry, when I came to visit the fortress, therefore I didn't look for any specific food and accepted proposed day offer. The food was quite tasty. Also coffee was good and tasty, supplied with a chocolate candy and lemon water. The price was reasonable and servicing very friendly and fast.

Nice and cosy cafe in the heart of the city with home made deserts, macarons, cakes and drinks. We also have different kind of pancakes.

Very cozy and modern place for having coffee,divine sweets,pancakes and also such wonderful thing as lavender limonade.Definitely must visit place in Daugavpils, if you are interested in having a proper meal,some glass (or two) of wine then go across the street to Red Beetle cafe (the same owners).
