A hidden rural restaurant located on the edge of disused quarry workings on the Penryn to Gweek road in the North Helford Zone, Cornwall. Come along and enjoy THE WAYMARKER'S freshly prepared lunchtime meals & drinks with unparralelled seclusion & tranqui
Visited with family for cream teas at lunchtime. Service was excellent helpful and friendly. There was a wide choice of scones of generous proportions and lots of jam and cream (no need to ask for extra). Quality was excellent including the gluten free scones. tucked away but well worth seeking out.

Vegetarian café serving freshly made food, home baked cakes and great coffee. Gardens are dog and child friendly - come and relax a while! Keep an eye on the web site for evening events, craft workshops and art exhibitions.
The title says it all! Amazing breakfast with lots of interesting favours including a wonderful fresh lemon mayonnaise and homemade tomato chutney/sauce. Even if youâre not veggie you have to try this. And the cakes ...mmmmmm....delicious, although after the filling breakfast I had to take it away to eat later.

Stayed in cadgwith for a week and found this store on a walk. Fantastic cob bread. Lovely coffee made by Gary. All you could want from a village store. All here are working hard to make this a success and we wish them well.I'm guessing this is our namesakes Gary and Claire?! I can only say it was a pleasure to meet you both - and thank you for such a great review. I hope we see you in Cornwall again soon. Claire

Closed at present but usually open seasonally from Easter to November for lunch, homemade cakes, coffees, cream teas, wines and a full license, with fresh fish and shellfish our speciality. A South facing garden is great for sunny days, with a wood burner
A group of 8 of us were walking in the area and went for tea/coffee and cake on Saturday afternoon. The service was friendly, but they were short of cakes as they were going to be closed the next day. We did manage to get some cake which was nice, but we would have expected more choice on a bank holiday Saturday afternoon!

Holy Mackerel Cafe open from 11am (closed Friday). Locally sourced and homemade produce, sharing platters and pates, great with wine in the garden . Helford Cyder,Local ales and Cornish gin. Pretty garden with stunning river views.
Had their fabulous charcuterie sharing platter- light mackerel pate was superb as were the local cheeses served with warm chunks of rustic bread .....and as for the pickled grapes! We left with a brace of their home made pork and apple sausage rolls which we originally intended to eat on the road home but have just eaten for lunch- I canât tell you how delicious we found them today. Definitely will come again!

At the end of the Lizard Peninsular
Before starting a new post I always spend some time looking at the pictures that I will use for it.I always chose some pictures first then build my memories or my descriptions on them.So when I started thinking about a place where I ate in Cornwall I looked not only at the food pictures I took but also on some pictures I took near that location. And that helped me remember more things. It helped me remember it was a sunny day. Not only sunny but hot. I remember sitting on the terrace in my tshirt, resting after my visit at Kynance Cove and after just a few minutes ago I admired Lizard Point. Because here it lies the little place I will talk to you about on this post. Polpeor Cafe or as it clearly states on the wall of the cafe, "Britain's most southerly cafe". Truth be told I did not have high expectations from this place. After leaving my car in the parking at Lizard poibt I started walkibg towards the water, enjoying the views. After spending some time relaxing, taking pictures and just looking at the water(because it calms me) I realised that it was well past noon and I didn't eat anything from breakfast. I might have said this before but usually I don't eat breakfast at home. While on holidays though I do eat it because frankly I do not know how much I will wander, where will I get and sometimes searching for a place to eat seems like a chore. What I learned from my many trips is the fact that while you do need to do your research before visiting big cities when visiting small little villages in Italy, Spain or even England there's less chance that the food would be horrible. Now, don't get me wrong, I still avoid most touristy spots if possible and reaching this cafe I had no high expectations since it was the obly one in the area so automatically it was touristy but hunger beat me and i sat at an outside table enjoying the hot sun. The terrace is great and everybody wants a seat near the edge because you will see the water reaching back as long as you look. Even though the terrace was filled with people I found the staff always smiling, moving fast between the tables, being polite and helpful with my choices or even when suggesting things that I should try. So clearly I have no complaints here and actually found this place to have a great staff. As I told you on my St Ives food post I wanted to try as many local produces as I could so here I opted for the crab cakes and the crab and shrimp pie. Those and a bottle of water put me back 20 pounds and I do think it was a great price. Truth be told I never in my life ate crab pie before. But as you know from my trpis in New York, Thailand or even Spain, I do love to eat locally and try new things. And if you do enjoy crab, mackerel, shrimps or other seefood and fish, England is a top destination for that. Back to Polpeor Cafe and what I can tell you that the food is great. It all tasted so good and my only regret was that I wasn't able to drink a beer because I was driving and I never do that. Even with a glass of alcohol, the driving ends for me. Another plus for the Polpeor Cafe is the size of the dishes and I can honestly tell you that I felt stuffed when I i got up from the table. Now, I usually never do that but from time to time I just go ahead and eat what I like, in what quantities I like and just hope that everything will be OK. I know that's not a good advice to follow and I do try to keep things like e that at a minimum but there are times when I just stop thinking on what will happen after and enjoy the moment. As i said before good food and big portions totally justify the price. Add in the great view from the terrace and you cleaely have a winner when visiting this area. This was a great stop for me on my days in Cornwall and I can reccommend this place to anyone who wants a simple, good meal using local produces, fresh caught fish.Great staff and a wonderful view.

Wavecrest is perched on the cliffs at Lizard Point, serving amazing food and drink with spectacular views over the most southerly point in mainland Britain.
We was walking the coastal path to Lizard Point and happened across Wavecrest Cafe.We popped in for an ice cream and ended up having a tea, coffee snack and ice cream. The setting was lovely, the prices reasonable for the location and the staff affable and likableRecommended..

Known as the wave @ coverack
This was our first visit to this establishment under new ownership as "The Fat Mackeral" and all I can say is it was completely disappointing. We used to visit when it was previously known as "The Wave" for the famous crab sandwiches which in our opinion were the best in the area, if not the county. Sadly, this is certainly no longer the case. The bread was not fresh and the fillings were meagre, and there was no sign of the hand cut chips which had previously been the icing on the cake for this outstanding dish. All in all this place and the food are not a patch on what they used to be. Despite the fact that we had pre-booked a table and pre-ordered crab sandwiches the service was inexcusably slow. We are now on a mission to find the new best crab sandwich in the area as it is certainly no longer here.

We are a family run café located just outside Porthallow - our opening hours are on our website. We are dog friendly, open all year round and have outside seating for busy periods. We are a short walk to Porthallow Cove which is also dog friendly.
No trip to Porthallow is complete without a visit here. We had very good coffee and delicious pastries but could just have easily ordered a variety of very appealing lunch options.
