Been in this restaurant for dinner with friends. This is a small restaurant in the old city center. The owners focused on creating new dishes based on classic Portuguese gastronomy, and the outputs are fantastic! the advice is to try one of each as the portions are small. The wine selection is very good for a restaurant so small like this one. The final value for money is very good!

The Café Atenas, founded in 1962, is a mythical place in the city of Coimbra. Here you can taste the best francesinha in the world and a menu of typical dishes, made with high quality products.
I went to that place because of a recommendation of a workmate, who said me that the francesinhas of Atenas were the best in Coimbra. I can´t confirm that because I haven´t try the other ones, but he was right. I enjoyed a lot my Francesinha, and also the bacallao a bras that ate my girlfriend was really nice. We had the opportunity to have dinner outdoors. The resturant is curious and nice (kinda old fashioned, but with charm), it is clean, the waitress was really efficient, and the prices are in good accordance with what they give. I really recommend this place to everyone who visits Coimbra and want to try a Francesinha in a tipical place.

We found the Casa de Cha by chance, walking in the gardens around. We decided to stop and have a drink sourrounded by trees. We were surprised by the fact the the prices were so low comparing to Italy or France, but the most amazing thing we discovered is that the place is managed by a local association working with people with disabilities. Our waiter, one of them, was very nice and cool. We went just for a beer, but the lemonades and the sandwiches that other people where eating looked really delicious :) Definitely recommend it! Thank you, guys! Great that you liked it and hope you come back one day!
