Pretty much what you would expect. Fairly large menu, standard diner fare. Nothing really special, but there is always a coupon in the local mailed circular for a free dinner or breakfast with another purchased. Their club sandwich is quite good. Let's say that the clientele is "mature" folks. I take a friend to lunch there monthly. Cheap eats.

This is a typical diner dive. Classic 70s orange-clad booths and worn tables. But the chicken is great, the soup was homemade and delicious. The mashed potatoes were just ok. And while other reviews rave about the pie, I was unimpressed with the chocolate pie which seems like chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream. The fruit pies look amazing and I wished I would have ordered that instead! Overall good and worth the extremely reasonable price!

From scratch & local cafe. Huge menu of gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads and unique dinner entrees
Had breakfast with friends on Saturday morning and it was wonderful. I had the corned beef hash....obviously homemade, full of corned beef and crunchy potatoes, topped with poached eggs. This could not have been better. Oh I forgot the huge biscuit with real homemade jam.....more like crushed fresh fruit. That too was wonderful. My wife and friend loved their breakfast too. We will return on next trip to visit friends in Chico. Give this place a go....it is wonderful but is closed on Sunday I believe. Thanks for coming in! We have a lot of fun making unique and fresh food for you!

There are a lot of cafes these days looking like a replica of something. This place definitely feels original. These is really pretty much an ideal cafe you can think of. It's located on a quiet street, the place is reasonably busy but it doesn't feel noisy. The service is great in a sense that you get all attention you need without being annoyed. The food is fairly basic but very well done. The pancakes are outstanding! They use top notch ingredients, everything is fresh made. The serve all kinds of coffee and everyone got something unique and we all loved what we've got. The prices are very affordable. The music is excellent. And everything is full of the original Californian style. This is a case where all pieces came together and the sum is bigger than the parts. Highly recommended!

Needed a place for breakfast within walking distance from the local VW dealership while the car was getting serviced. The Roost was highly recommend by the service guys and they were not wrong at all.Not much to look at, the building is ancient and has the look of a dive. But inside, the lunch counter atmosphere was neat and clean. The counter was run by two very efficient ladies who never left my coffee cup low. These were professionals.Had the corned beef hash, hash browns two eggs oner medium and a biscuit. It was all great. The hash was full of homemade corned beef, the hash browns were perfectly crisp, the eggs were a perfect medium, and the biscuit soft and fluffy. There was nothing to complain about. About as perfect as I could ask for. If you want a $1.99 meal, go to a drive through. If you want a high quality breakfast made with fresh ingredients prepared and served by pro's, go to the roost. If ever in Chico again, I'm going to The Roost!!
