Itâs been a number of years since my last visit to Angelinaâs Dutch Corner but theyâve recently moved into a new location at the River Market at the Quay. Iâve got to admit that I like their new digs⦠much more open, airy, and bright compared to their last location. The only bad thing here is that the noise inside the restaurant seems to echo and amplify making for a loud din.On this first revisit, I decided to get The Big Bennie ($17) which comes with bacon, sausage, ham, and turkey bacon along with a generous fruit bowl. For my poached eggs, I asked for medium (they said their medium would be a bit runny in the yolk) and one of the eggs was pretty good with a creamy, slightly runny yolk. But the other egg was slightly overdone. Still, this was a nice benny and the herbed potatoes turned out quite well too. There were so many different types of fruit in the fruit bowl⦠orange, kiwi, mango, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, peach, grape, pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, berriesâ¦.Although Iâm not a vegetarian, I thought Iâd give their Vegetarian Benedict ($15) a try. It comes with spinach, tomato, avocado, havarti and poached eggs. This was actually pretty good and I was surprised that I didnât miss the meat. Again, a solid selection of fruit in the accompanying fruit cup.Okay, so you knew that IT would eventually show up⦠and by âITâ I mean the Big Pannekoek ($18). While youâve probably heard of pannekoek from that other Dutch breakfast joint, you should give the one at Angelina a try. They werenât kidding⦠this is huge. The feather-lite crepe-like pannekoek is topped with an ample supply of meat (yeah, I know I did a complete 180 from the Veggie Benny that I had before) with the likes of ham, bacon, sausage patty, bratwurst, and eggs⦠all served with some hollandaise sauce on the side. Definitely enjoyed the crisp bacon here.Came back on a weekend and ordered the Fully Loaded Hash ($16) and Fresh Fruit French Toast ($17) with some Hot Chocolate. Now, I know that hash is, well, hashed up. But they werenât kidding⦠all of the ingredients in the hash were chopped up so it was difficult to tell what everything was. I guess thatâs the point. But I did really like the edam cheese as well as the sourdough toast.Okay, the thing to know about Angelinaâs is they are quite popular so it always seems busy here. Even on a weekday lunch, service is slow despite how many people they have working here. If youâre coming here on a weekend for breakfast/brunch⦠expect things to be slow⦠like really, really slow. That being said, the food is good and Iâd come back just for the fresh fruit cup the accompanies many of their dishes.Hello,Thank you for the awesome in depth review! I am very glad that you enjoyed our food. As for our wait times, this is something we are working on fixing. We have been trying to fix this issue for a while now and have been making slow but steady progress. So far our weekdays have very reasonable wait times however on weekends we can occasionally get quite backed up. We hope to fix this problem for weekends in the near future. Thank you so much for coming down to Angelina's.

We were looking for somewhere to go for dinner on a Saturday night close to home and remembered this place. We had not been there in a long time but remembered that food and service was good. We were glad we stopped in. Place wasn't busy and the young man who waited on us was very personable. Food ranges from Greek to Italian and even burgers. My husband chose the baked spaghetti and I chose the baked lasagna. Meals came with toasted garlic bread. We both really enjoyed our meals but couldn't help noticing the desserts in the display case. The waiter went over what was available. My husband had the chocolate fudge cake which was very rich and chocolatey. The waiter said they had freshly made rice pudding which really appealed to me. It was rich and creamy and delicious! They had a good selection of house wine and beer. Prices are very reasonable.

This is a wonderful unassuming little spot. Friendly, casual and the food is excellent. I arrived and was ready to order when I got an SMS from a colleague (whom I hadn't expected) that he was heading my way after all. The staff were more than happy to wait until he arrived. The style of food is a bit hard to describe. I guess "comfort food" covers a lot of it, but prepared with care and with very nice flavours. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a very small restaurant in Burnaby Heights but the food is so delish. They have a limited menu mainly of sandwiches but the sandwiches are out of this world. We had the lamb shank and caramelized onion in a baguette. The baguette was so chewy and tasty. The filling of lamb and onions to die for. Also had the onion soup. As good or better than you get in France. The french fries so crispy and good. We had the creme brûlée to finish. Creamy with a nice crunchy crust. It's a very busy place so you might want to make a reservation. The entire time we were in there there were no empty tables.

Finally, a brunch restaurant close to home. I love brunch and often make the trip downtown in order to have it. I've been looking forward to trying this place for a while now. I came on a Sunday afternoon around 11pm. It's quite a small place, and there was a bit of a wait but we only waited around 10-15 minutes. You put your name down with one of the staff, and they let you know when you can order your food. You get your own water(s) and cutlery, and they bring you the food when it's ready (which didn't take long at all). I wish they had a couple chairs along the wall for those waiting. The menu is not huge but we still found it hard to choose what we wanted to try! We settled on the Pork Belly Breaky Sandwich ($7) and the Chicken and Waffles ($16.25). They had quite a few different drink selections! I'm not usually a big coffee fan so that was appreciated. I tried their Thai Iced Tea ($3.75)The Pork Belly Breaky Sandwich was our favourite! It came with a marbled egg, arugula, chives, chili marinated tomatoes, and toasted sesame mayo on a burger bun. Normally, im not a big fan of arugula and I was skeptical about the tomatoes but it all worked together really well! Very messy to eat though, I ended up taking a fork and knife to it hahaThe Chicken and Waffles weren't bad as well. The batter on the chicken was a little too crispy/dry for my liking, but the chicken thighs themselves were really good. The waffles had a hint of orange zest or something of the sort, which I wasn't sure I liked but they were soft and fluffy. The Thai Iced Tea wasn't bad except I feel like it could be a little bit sweeter. They had simple syrup on the counter but I ended up just putting a splash of milk in it. We got seated near the window (the downside was that any bee or flying insect got into the restaurant kept flocking towards the window). There was also a daddy long leg at one point scaling the wall (Lord help me). The restaurant itself is not dirty or anything and it's summer so all the bugs are out and about. The place overall is a cute little brunch place. I'd recommend visiting if you are in the area!
