We pulled off of the M5 due to Bank Holiday traffic and searched for somewhere to grab a quick lunch. We almost missed Tea Birds as it has a tiny shop front but we spotted the chairs outside on the pavement. We were able to park on the street outside. There were perhaps half a dozen tables downstairs ( didn't actually see if there were more upstairs ) but it has a patio at the rear. We ordered tea, coffee and sandwiches which were made to order with a fresh little salad and some crisps. Really well made with lovely fresh bread. Great friendly service too. A bit off the beaten track and likely more used by locals as its website describes it as a Community Café, but given its just a few minutes off the Bridgewater junction on the M5, a really nice alternative to the motorway services.

Popped in for the first time. Had an excellent coffee. Also the bacon and egg in a ciabatta roll was exceptional very tasty and hot. Service with a smile. Attentive and asked how the food was and wished a good day. That goes a long way. Great decor. Honest simple food and not expensive. Will return and can definitely recommend

We were getting hangry so I hastily punched some stuff into the GPS hoping to find a vegetarian place in Bridgewater. We're not vegetarians but we were Jonesin' for some healthy food. It's a bad combination: My wife and I were hungry because it was past lunchtime and we were running a little behind schedule in a foreign country where the steering wheels are on the wrong side. We were snapping at each other and I was working the Garmin whilst trying not to smack into another vehicle. The Bridge came up on the device and I made an instant decision. Miraculously there was a parking space right in front. This was one of the weirder meals we had on our trip. The food wasn't very good. I think I had some pizza or something. My wife's salad was iceberg lettuce with a big pile of cheddar cheese on top. Okay, that's weird. Anyway, don't make the same mistake I did.

Stopped here and hoc travelling through Bridgewater. Being in desperate need of coffee and breakfast we were seated quickly. Service was quite slow and indeed our orange juices never arrived. However the coffee and food were excellent. Good kids menu too and kids very welcome. Staff and customers with the exception of an old person who should know better really nice.

Family run tea rooms near Kilve beach
I had heard plenty about this tea garden but never quite managed to eat there. It is in a enchanting setting albeit somewhat rickety in that the ancient chantry is needing to be propped up these days. The historic walls and beautifully planted garden provide a perfect backdrop for a rest and refreshment after a beach walk. Cleverly the arrangement is that you queue to place an order but after that it is waitress service and quick considering how popular it is. We had the Somerset Cream Tea which with Miles' Tea, home made scones, delicious jam and sumptuous clotted cream was all we hoped it would be - excellent.
