Finalist in the 2019 Farm Shop & Deli awards. Village shop, deli and licensed cafe selling wonderful local produce. Home made food. Open 7 days a week, but please check Bank Holidays.
While having a stroll in the attractive village of Helperby we came across this lovely place that combines village shop, delicatessen and cafe. The tearoom is a pleasant and well decorated room and I believe that they do a good selection of cooked meals. We only wanted tea, coffee and cake however, and all were very good.Service was excellent and two incidents are worth a mention. First of all, having ordered a piece of fruit cake, the lady who I assume owns the business came through and asked if we would like a wedge of Wensleydale cheese with it - well, we are in Yorkshire!Secondly, when we were leaving, the young girl who had served us bade us a nice farewell; then followed that up with a lovely âthank you for comingâ. What a charming gesture.

A morning stroll with old friends along the riverside on a decidedly autumnal day ended with an early lunch. I noticed a previous reviewer criticised the coffee but there was nothing wrong with ours. I had ham, egg and chips which were top notch and wife had a chicken burger which she really enjoyed. Our friends had toasties and a pot of tea and were well pleased. Service was quick, helpful and cheerful. Another reviewer criticised them for being cash only but obviously too tight to carry a couple of banknotes around with them! Don't they realise prices would have to rise if Riverside did credit cards?

Friendly, family-run cafe on the High Street, in the historic market town of Knaresborough. Famous for our breakfasts and hand-cut skin-on chips, we also serve an excellent range of teas and coffees, as well as the usual cafe fare such as jacket potatoes,
Popped in for a late lunch while visiting Knaresborough. The staff were friendly and efficient and our food was served promptly. I had a delicious bacon, brie and cranberry panini and it came with crisps, a tasty salad (loved the addition of grapes) and a home-made coleslaw, one of the nicest I have had. My husband chose sausage, egg and chips and also enjoyed his meal. The menu is varied, there is something for everyone, and prices are reasonable too. We had no room for cake, unfortunately, as they looked delicious! Highly recommended.Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a nice review. Do come and see us again!

The Wakeman's House cafe is a traditional tearoom, offering a range of tasty homemade sweet treats - scones, traybakes, sponge cakes, bakewell tart and apple pie to name but a few.Our light lunches include sandwiches, paninis, homemade soups and quiches,
Great value and great range of food. We're regulars for either cream scones or savoury cheese with cream cheese and chutney in a friendly place with character.

Never visited this cafe before so thought we would give it a go and we werenât disappointed, we chose the sweet chilli chicken wrap which came with chips and side salad, it was delicious and well presented, the staff were very polite and the cafe was lovely and clean, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next day for Bacon sarnies & sausage sarnies, they definitely fill the bread bun, again delicious food,Our new place for food when we visit Ripon

Chimes Cafe - only open during the day
We called in just after 12.15 as they had some tables free.Things appeared a little chaotic other diners were unable to order quiches & fruit scones the staff including chef / owner scurrying back & forth up & down the corridor every minute or two.Young waitress not particularly friendly/ helpful or informative in suggesting suitable alternatives. On the positive side the older staff were obviously trying hard to overcome the shortcomings and checking customers were served & happy, tea & teacake(fruit scone substutute)were both nice as was my wife's latte which was served hot.Looking at other reveiws I'm persuaded there was probable cause & this is not the usual level of service.Hi Sorry for today we did have a problem with staffing today. Stretching the team to its limits. We really pleased you could see past this and still give us a fair and honest review. We hope to see you again in the future. All the best Mark

Was fortunate enough to secure a table for 4 tonight for Indian tapas night This is a bring your own wine or beer evening and enjoy beautiful home made Indian food The restaurant was completely full plus a couple of tables outside on the rear terrace The food was divine - poppadums, chicken and mango salad, home made pickles, samosas, lamb and chicken kebabs, all sorts of exquisitely wonderful Indian delicacies. Real Indian family food - not a madras or korma to be seen Subtle spices which were blended cleverly The atmosphere was superb The food was genuinely outstanding Looking forward to our next visit

The chicken, bacon and leek pies are superb. I always try to call in when I'm in the area, and even asked my wife to stop off and get some when she was driving past on the A1. That's how good they are.

Following some literature from where we were staying we decided to forgo our normal breakfast and have it here - being as it was awarded the Best Breakfast in Yorkshire. Our expectations were very high, sadly misplaced however. Donât misunderstand me it was a nice breakfast but we struggled to see what set it apart and gave it the claimed accolade. Friendly efficient service, in cold surroundings and very little seating. It was hot, fresh and tasty but nothing spectacular at all. The farm shop although offering some examples of local produce also offered the same type & brands of fayre found at the vast majority of farm shops.
