I visited Bessie's Cafe a couple of days ago, on my last day in Culross - and wish I had discovered it sooner. Great attention is given to quality coffee making and the manager also trains baristas across Scotland. The menu has some fine vegan and healthy options, very generous servings, and is a delight to sit in or outside in the late afternoon Sun. It is very well placed beside the Culross Palace Gardens and the toilets were wonderfully clean and artistically decorated with foliage - most people forget how important loos are! The young staff are very helpful, considerate and amazingly knowledgeable about the food and coffee offered. One of the cafe waiters gave me a complete run down of the ingredients in the Moroccan soup, which sounded delicious. I know for sure that the eggs are organic and free range too! Enjoy.

A miserable day but we stopped off at this lovely wee restaurant/pub for lunchWe needed a gluten free for one of our party and were pleasantly surprised by the options available Staff were so helpful and service really goodJust enough time to have finished eating before plates were removed Food was great and reasonably priced wine If you can take tables towards the back as they were nearest the radiator Not that the restaurant was cold but it was a dreary day snd this was a cosy corner for us to sit and relax

We had lunch here after the Santa train trip. The menu was good with a nice choice of snacks, cakes and kids meals. It was ok, nothing to get too excited about but suited our requirements. The frustrating thing was that all the staff disappeared for about 15 minutes leaving just one young man on the till with a long queue struggling. Some potential customers walked out! What a shame!
I am a regular here, this is simply the best coffee anywhere...bar none, and believe me I have travelled the world and therefore an expert in coffee in the morning. There was this wee cafe in Kerak, Jordan that would give Brian a run for his money, but rather than trek to the Holy land..........swing by Boness.

Breakfast served from until 11.45am. Lunch served until 4pm on weekends (3pm on weekdays). Artisan Coffee and Home baking available everyday until 4pm. Dinner events publicised on Facebook.
Have to say the Mexican themed night was a mixed bag for us. The soft taco starters were all excellent, priced 5.50-6-50...sweet potato & feta, chicken & mango salsa & especially the super tender juicy beef, all lovely. Mains however, were just OK. Chicken Mole was pleasant enough. The beef buritto priced at £14 was, well, just a beef burrito. Nice flavours & we're not all about big portions but there was less steak in it than in the taco starter. Just an observation. Will still go back during day for lunch, excellent soups, coffee etc.

Visited for breakfast this week for a catch up with a friend. Was met with a big beaming smile at 0830 by staff, always nice. Had a browse at the art works on the walls and the impressive range oven on the end wall, before my date arrived.Ordered the full breakfast, nice surprise when a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice arrived! The breakfast was brilliant, every element was high quality and nicely cooked. We were topped up with unlimited refills of coffee. All in all a brilliant experience, nice atmosphere, efficient friendly staff.Oh and a very reasonable price, I think about £17 for the both of us.

Only been here a couple of times but will certainly go back next time we are in Culross: love the ambience, the coffee, the service, soup with home-made bread (a real treat)! A simple menu, well done, and everyone loved what they had. Chatted to 3 lassies there who were loving the fact they had a fantastic view of the Mercat Cross and Study - which apparently featured in some films and on TV. Film called 'Outlander' in particular was mentioned and there is a signed photograph of the star, ?Jamie, in the cafe so the owners may be able to tell you a bit more about that!
