This cafe in the Four Clocks Centre, an ex-chapel, is very welcoming and friendly, you don't feel "odd" being on your own. The food is very good and the servings are large. Nothing fancy, just good food at a sensible price. Pictures for sale on the walls and in the corridor beside the cafe there are some archive pictures of the Railway Station as it was. Oh yes, mustn't forget the NUR banner which is displayed there.

Bradley Burn Farm Shop and Cafe is open throughout the year. Housed in a beautiful log cabin, tables on our terrace overlook the burn flowing past. Enjoy home cooked fayre beside the wood stove while the kids explore the enclosed play area just outside. F
Well I don't want it make too long but today my family and myself went there and the place is lovely. Nice location. The food is terrible my wife asked for some ham and cheese toast and the bread was the cheapest ever you can buy in a supermarket then they put three pieces of ham on each toast and that was almost four pounds. Can you believe it? then I asked for a lasagna and it was disgusting presentation. It looked like they basically threw a piece of s..t on the plate I say plate because they literally put it on the place round and not square and there was not layers whatsoever in was like glue in a plate. The service is awful, the young girls who work there should go with their mums back again. They literally clean only a small section of a whole table just to pretend that they were cleaning something, now there was a family previous to us there with children and as you expect the mess was noticeable. Please don't go to this place believe me unless they change the management and the cook and the people serving. Disgusting! Thanks for your feedback. We are carrying out a full investigation into all the issues raised. You chose two of our more popular dishes, so I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy them. We'll make sure that our high standards are maintained consistently.
Tried the Merry Monk for Sunday lunch for the first time and was very impressed. Very friendly and attentive staff brought the food within a few minutes of ordering. Choice of beef pork or chicken which you can order large or small, 2 Yorkshires with the large. Overall it was a very enjoyable meal and a good pint will definitely be returning for more.

Popped in for coffee this afternoon with my husband. Like it here because staff are friendly and helpful. Also its always clean. Had the soup which was very tasty. In winter I tend not to sit next to the large glass windows as it's quite cold there but other parts of the cafe are fairly warm.

Called in for breakfast on our way up to Sunderland, a decent breakfast served by a happy staff member. Decent food at a decent price in a clean and spacious cafe.Good disabled access as are the toilets. Toilets were clean but the smell was awful, a real strong urine smell, shame really.

This was a very last minute idea for a meal and thankfully for us Chris and Jo Anna obliged us. Meal was great with drinks and at a very very reasonable price. Stayed later than we expected too but well worth it. Thanks to all the staff
Freshly made sandwiches, paninis & baguettes to go, savouries, sweet offerings, salads, jacket potatoes, meal deals & more. See our facebook profile for more reviews and pictures.
My Daughter often calls here for our lunch if I'm working from home on a Friday. There are loads of fillings to choose from if you're having a sandwich. They are freshly made with exactly what you want - the buns are always fresh - and most importantly they taste delicious and are so filling. Daughters often have baked potato and say they're also delicious. Prices are very good value for money. Service excellent and friendly. Definitely worth calling if you haven't yet tried this little gem. Hi clayton1967Many thanks for leaving such a lovely review and we would like to wish you and your family all the very best for 2018 and beyond and we look forward to serving you again soon x

Traditional meals and snacks served. Daily Special lunch served. Home-made soup. Homemeade scones and cakes. Home-cooked food. Waitress Service. Outside courtyard and seating at front of premises. Tempting cakes, puddings, desserts and ice cream sundaes.
What a friendly, welcoming cafe. The food is all home-made - the quiches, cakes (including gluten-free), the soup and the artisan bread, baked at their on-the-premises bakery. The owners also own the artisan bakery, Breaking Bread Durham.I don't know how they cooked the mushrooms in the omelette but they were much more tasty than when I make mushroom omelette at home. It is served with an accompanying side salad or a jacket potato as well if you are as hungry as I was. The coffees were also very good.We were in Bishop Auckland to visit Auckland Tower - one of the attractions of the Auckland Project. This cafe is conveniently located just a one-minute walk away from the tower, on the market place itself. For its relaxed friendly ambience and the quality of the food, in my view this is most definitely the best cafe on that market place.

We wanted a light lunch so chose the savoury cream tea of large and beautifully light cheese scones served with cream cheese, cheddar cheese and pickle plus an excellent quality cup of coffee. We were treated to live 50's singing too. Prices are very reasonable.
