Things to do in Batsi
Good to find this deli / restaurant open late in the season. Excellent locally sourced food and drink. Although basic and a work in progress the proprietor was incredibly friendly and helpful.

The little run of restaurants along this stretch of the beach at Batsi has a curious shared characteristic... they're all run by the same team, with interchangeable staff, yet each somehow keeps its own individual identity. If one is very busy and another is empty, staff simply move to the busy one.The Veranda is in the middle of the four linked eateries, and does the best breakfasts. It also feels the most relaxed, with comfortable chairs, informal table arrangements and good views out to the beach, where you can sit and have your sundowner and people-watch, or enjoy lunch, or take dinner. But it's the breakfast that's the real winner. It's not cheap, but it's good quality, and our waitress - Anna - was simply brilliant; friendly, effervescent and forever smiling.Because of the elevation of the inside tables, you get a much better overview of Batsi. Yes, you could choose the road-level tables at the front, but you just get the fumes from the cars, buses and motorbikes - so pick inside.I went for the eggs, spinach, salad and yoghurt breakfast option - the best one to go for.Accompanied by good coffee, freshly squeezed juice and charming service, it was excellent. In a fortnight's stay in Batsi we went back several times, for drinks and other meals. But it's the breakfast that stands out.

Have been here a few times before and service has been good but last time we were just ignored by the waitress and barman - both seen us arrive and when they finished serving others they came and sat outside with their friends and drank coffee!!!! After 10minutes we left and will not return.

Asterix is such a friendly place, especially as a spot to meet up in the early evening for a pre-dinner drink. The staff are all so friendly, the drinks are good and the view is lovely. Also it does nice lunchtime snacks such as salads and club sandwiches. Very much a social hub for the Brits!
