On the corner of La Salle and Benton, near downtown. It's the place with the lovely lace curtains in the window. Pleasant, comfortable seating. Tea is served in individual small bottomless pots. Sandwiches come with a side dish on a glass plate. The atmosphere is half the fun here. Pannini sandwich was great. Soup was served in a tea cup. Terrific desserts and scones. We had the 'Triple Chocolate Stout Cake' incredibly dense, moist, chocolate cake. Calla Lily also has a High Tea that requires reservations, with finger sandwiches, scones, fruit, tea. But we just walked in, had lunch, we were welcomed and taken care of very nicely by the Server.

Endiro Coffee

Brew all the good you can! Tree-to-cup specialty coffee and delicious glocal food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Endiro is a trendy, friendly espresso cafe/restaurant in a town that badly needs quality offerings. And everyone is hyper-enthusiastic about Endiro, but it fails in two major areas: food and coffee. The atmosphere is cheery, and the staff are very nice. I've been to Endiro several times, hoping that my coffee or food will improve, but I think I've been there often enough now to see that the cappuccinos are merely acceptable - not stellar by any means. And the food doesn't rise above mediocrity, at least the breakfasts don't. On my first visit, I ordered a waffle and bacon along with my cappuccino. The waffle was flaccid, i.e. not crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is what a good waffle should be. How they managed the soft, lifeless waffle is a mystery, although there really aren't many variables: type of waffle iron, temperature, cooking time, and type of batter. So at least one of those variables is way off. (If the waffles are vastly better at the pour-it-yourself waffle iron at a Towneplace Suites, then you have a problem.) On my second visit, I had their breakfast sandwich, and it was equally dismal. And my stool, facing the counter, was adjacent to where the dirty dishes were dumped. Not all that appealing. So Endirio has work to do, in my opinion, but given the rave reviews, I'm definitely in the minority.
