We maanaged to get what seemed like the last table in the place - it was full (always a good sign). The staff were friendly, the menu was wide ranging - enough choice to make us think without being overwhelming, and when it came the food was lovely. All at a pretty reasonable price!
Visited on two occasions the first time service was longer than expected when prawn salad arrived absolutely covered in prawn cocktail sauce which was not expecting salad very basic lettuce cucumber and tomato. Politely explained not expecting prawn cocktail sauce not on the menu took further ten minutes to return with a few prawns and same basic salad not good value for money a bit of onion pepper or beetroot would have been niceOn second visit ordered food at counter taking drinks to table cafe almost empty then sat and waited half an hour for food couples and families arriving after us were being quickly served with almost exactly the same as we had orderedWent up to the counter explaining we had run out of time and had to go when food arrived not looking at all appetising no apology for time taken only explanation was that some things take longer to cook then others saying others must have had sandwiches which they had not they had chips the same as us requested refund and given one as no time left to eat. Will never be returning would have been nice to have someone actually smile at me or apologies for time taken but no such thing was made to feel or so ally like it was our fault for waiting over half an hourPreviously eaten across the road at Star cafe and always been delighted with food and service advise you to do the same
The Landing Pad is a cafe within The Hanger (Air Ambulance) charity shop. Formerly an Aldi store, so the shop is huge. The cafe seems to sell only cakes and scones, but the cakes are all different varieties, they look lovely. Had a piece of Bakewell cake/slice, gorgeous. Large pot of tea too. Coffees, cold drinks and cobs were on sale on the day I visited. What a great idea. Not only raising funds via the charity shop but also via this lovely cafe, which isn't that big, but there is some outdoor seating too. I would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Bargains and Cake !!

Plenty of choice from salads to full breakfast. Pleasant staff, clean eating area with tables and chairs. You can ask how you want such things as bacon to be cooked.Full breakfast: 2 sausages, 2 large bacon rashes 2 fried eggs baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, 2 slices of toast large mug of tea. Can definitely recommend.

We picked out this restaurant for breakfast while driving to York from London, it was a good choice and the breakfast was fairly cheap compared to other cafes. The only issue is the breakfast is small, that explains why itâs cheaper than the others. You could count the chips on the breakfast it was that small.

This curious little spot on a nondescript street in a nondescript village in Derbyshire has been attracting a fair bit of media attention, most likely because of its quirky interiors and charming affable host. So curiosity got the better of us, and we checked it out on one dismal rainy bleak Saturday morning recently. We were a bit confused about the opening time as noted on its FaceBook page as it didn't appear to be opened as advertised, and when we went in we were asked to return a half hour or so later - which we did. It's certainly a quirky spot. The interiors are a combination of shabby chic, mis-matched bric-Ã -brac and unusual paraphernalia occupying every nook and cranny of the inside. A multitude of ornamental bird cages hang all over the place; ornate mirrors adorn the walls; there are shelves bursting with unusual collectables, and a resident canary (I believe his name is George} chirps merrily away in his window-view cage.We enjoyed a simple lunch: a toasted cheese and ham sandwich, and a tuna mayo sandwich, along with a strawberry milkshake and a diet cola. The food was nicely presented, tasty, and represented good value for money.I wasn't totally convinced about the general cleanliness of the place. Apart from George the canary spreading his seeds all over the floor, our drinking containers and cutlery weren't pristinely spotless. We'll give it another go, probably in the summer when the weather it better and we can utilise the outside seating area (also filled with quirky bits and pieces). It has the potential to be an outstanding local curiosity.

Called for coffee and cake and we were highly delighted with this extremely friendly café. The banter between the staff and regulars is brilliant. The home baked cakes are wonderful especially the date and walnut cake. Everything is homemade and looks delicious. Small café but very popular. Must visit again for lunch.

Hubby and I visited for the first time today, as we have been looking for a new lunch spot. Nice central location and the cafe itself is nice. Quick, efficient, polite and helpful staff took our order. I had quiche, wedges and salad. Loved the fruit in the salad and the wedges were like crispy skin baked potato - definitely homemade. Quiche was very tasty. Hubby had steak pie, chips and peas which he also liked. Price was good and portions were large. Can't fault anything. Very good!
