A small bakery and coffee shop serving German inspired breakfasts, lunches and weekend dinners. We are located on the corner of First and Ellsworth in downtown Albany, Oregon. As part of a growing downtown community we invite you to enjoy a cup of coffee
Written after 3 visits: Actually a nice surprise and a good option in this small city's dining scene. Ordered the schnitzel sandwich on the first visit and was underwhelmed -- until I began to deconstruct it. The bread/bun was amazing - flavorful, good shell, soft interior. Homemade mustard -- I'd buy a jar! The schnitzel itself was a bit chewy and breading made it taste somewhat greasy. Side of red cabbage was delish! Service was very slow and several mix ups on the floor -- delivery of wrong food to wrong tables. Next visit I tried coffee and sweets. The coffee was very good and the sticky bun was so buttery and rich that I went back and bought more to take home. We also had coffee cake -- not usually a favorite but this was fruity and rich and tasty. Finally, the pretzel visit! Mmmmmm... that homemade mustard again, delicious yeasty pretzel. I wanted more!! I tried to order the warm potato salad but was told it's not available after 3. :-( I see a 4th visit -- I will have to return for the cakes! They look gorgeous. You can tell the food is made with love and pride. The kind of place that is truly local and worthy of support. The prices seemed a bit high at first ($4 for a bun, $3.50 for a pretzel, etc) but once tasting, the value is there.

My hubby and I go here for breakfast or lunch at least once a week. If you like good old fashioned comfort food, this place is for you. The portions are ginormous and the servers are wonderful.

The Beanery is consistent and well priced if you want a good sandwich, Quiche, or similar fare. We chose a Rueben and a Turkey with Swiss cheese. Both were toasted on the Panini press. A good dill pickle slice and a handful of thick potato chips. It's nothing super fancy but as I wrote, the sandwich was good and the price was not over the moon. The only other comment we had was that the eating area was clean (bus your own tables) which most folks do, but the dining area and restrooms are looking a bit tired and should be spiffed up a bit. We also missed the grill which was going the last time we were there.
