The third day of our holiday and so far we hadnât had a decent lunch anywhere but paid high prices, on the third day thank goodness we found the Hendover cafe, the food, the service and the cost was great, if we are this way again we would certainly eat here again. Went to the cafe yesterday morning where we were approached by the manager who straight away made remarks that we found wasn't in good gesture... as we went to order the manager then proceeded to express her views on the children and seating Plans I think this cafe is only meant for locals as we all felt very unwelcome and was looking forward to enjoy a breakfast Very disappoint We are not an unfriendly cafe! One member of this party was very belittling and that made you all unwelcome. By all means come in and move the tables and try to get pushchairs in we are well use to that and always accomodate but when they are left in aisles or doorways or other tables shifted so nobody else can get in we need to sort it. Pete was trying to help you. All the lads had sat down and left it to the girls so somebody had to help them and make sure everyone's in and the gangway is clear. Nobody was rude to you at all we were trying to help you get sorted. If you don't like being shown where to roll the pushchairs in so that they were close by you and out of the gang ways and tables at the same time then that's not us being rude that's you being rude with the faces. NO comments other than If you put your pushchairs here etc were made at that point. No comments were made until when done in a mock exasperated voice Pete said, Are ya staying long. It was a little joke! There was no need for one member of the party to hold his hands out and say We can take our business elsewhere you know then proceed to look at him then the friend and shake his head. It was disrespectful it was rude and it was unnecessary when all he had done was try and help. That's the first time I spoke and I said if that's how you feel go. He then proceeded to say about how much money we are going to spend, again disrespectful, rude and unnecessary then mumbling under his breath to soneone so again I repeated if that's how you feel, feel free to go elsewhere. We are not here to be belittled like that because someone wants to spend a few quid. You see the size of the cafe, it needed someone to organise you all comfortably and if that offended that one person then the problem was not ours. We have never been threatened by someone to take their business elsewhere after trying to help so it suited us both that you carry out your words and took your business elsewhere!

Relaxed, friendly atmosphere as well as great value for money. At West Bay Tea Rooms we celebrate "the cup of tea" and is one of our most loved drinks (the nations too!) which is why you will find a great selection of over 40 different varieties to choose
In an attempt to round out my list of cafes in the Bridport and west Bay Area I finally gave this place a try. It caters for the coach party audience quite well, which I suppose makes sense given itâs location. Iâm pretty sure it was packed with the occupants of the Shearingâs coach outside when I visited - it was packed.Nothing wrong with the sandwich - but I could make similar myself. Itâs a tea room that wouldnât be out of place in the 80s and 90s as the menu would be the same. Nothing wrong with that either but Iâm a bit of a snob these days.So - if you want something âhome madeâ on a wet day in West Bay, you could do worse. But you could also do better.

Was looking for somewhere healthy and tasty for a bite of lunch in Weymouth and this place did not disappoint. Delicious home cooked vegetarian food, with many different options. Absolutely stunning deserts too. Canât rate this place highly enough, and the outside courtyard is an added bonus.

We had lunch here and the menu had a decent choice of salads, light lunches and snacks and they all looked to be good quality. The lunch we had was well presented and very tasty but definitely priced for a captive audience. Service was decent but if I'd certainly think twice before having anything more substantial than a coffee here next time.

The coffees were weak and watery with a funny taste. I couldn't drink mine. We also ordered a slice of double chocolate cake which was very expensive and completely dried out. Very disappointing all round. On the plus side, the staff were overly friendly and polite.

Breakfast served from 8:00-11:30 everyday. Lunch served from 12:00-15:00 everyday. Selection of cakes & pastries available all day
We walked here from where we were camped, full of hope and expectation. The coffee was great on our first visit and the farm shop /deli looked inviting and we therefore decided to call in on our way home for one of their home made cream teas as the scones also looked great. Sure enough the cream tea was also great as were the few bits I purchased in the shop. Here comes the âbutâ....The two staff who âservedâ us could not have done more to make us feel unwelcome, no smiles, no eye contact, no please, no thankyou and very offhand. One practically threw the sugar at us. WHY do people who obviously do not like interacting with the general public work in the service industry? This is a great place selling great food, great coffee at realistic prices, but made us quite sad that the icing was not on the cake so to speak.

We were not planning to visit the gardens but we spotted some signs on our journey and decided to give it a go. We had cake and tea in the cafe before we walked around. It was very good. Tranquil gardens on lots of levels with an easy to follow white arrow system for the easiest route. The steep walk up to the viewing point was well worth the extra effort.Could have wandered around for a few more hours.Highly recommended.

A delightful traditional tea room, serving delicious homemade cakes and light lunches, gluten free menu. Dog friendly.
Dropped in for lunch today and were delighted with our toasted sandwiches. Melted cheese oozed from fresh, granary bread. Served with lovely sides of salad and coleslaw. Newly baked Blackberry & Apple cake with ice cream to follow. 100% recommend this gem of a place.Thank you so much, what a lovely review, so glad you liked the BlackBerry & Apple cake too. Hope you can visit us again
