Recommended to us by others staying in same B&B as us, this did not disappoint. Service was prompt and friendly, food a good notch above 'pub grub' standard. Duck starter was delicious, whitebait good but portion far too big. Main courses tasty and nicely presented. The best we have found in this area so far. Will definitely visit again when in the area.
A centrally located diner/takeaway serving all the usual take away food - pizza, kebab, burger plus chippy dishes too. We visited on a Saturday evening, ordered at the counter and sat in the eat-in area which is like a diner, the food was brought to our table. We had doner meat and chips with chilli sauce - very hot! But it comes separately and the chippy style chips made it. We also had a 14in meat feast pizza which was a monster. Iâve never had a meat pizza before with so many toppings and the chunks of chicken were huge. It was very good value.

A friendly atmosphere and good choice of menu pus specials. Special mention for the cheeseboard - enormous and deicious, enough for two! All the food was delicious and good portions, great quality. House wine is to be recommended and a good choice of local ales too. We had a meal here last weekend, I had fish in a chorizo sauce while my son had the leek and ham pie, both were delicious. The portions were generous and served with a smile. All the staff we spoke to were pleasant and friendly, would definitely return if we were in the area again.

We were looking forward to our meal here as previous reviews were good. Arrived on a snowy night and received modest reception. Pub seems to have been refitted recently and although nice it lacks cosyness and is too bright. Food was nicely presented but not particularly memorable after eating. Pudding portions were miserable for the high price. So ok but better places to eat in Wooler area.

Recently under new management,we are open from 12 noon everyday. The Anchor Inn is a traditional English pub set in the amazing village of Wooler in Northumberland. Come and enjoy a nice cold drink and relax in a warm, cozy traditional pub atmosphere.
Popped into this bar twice on our visit to Wooler, a lively bar with lots going on and a great place to spend some time in and have a laugh

Cafe Maelmin is a family run business. We are open 7 days a week offering home cooked breakfasts, lunch and early evening meals as well as teas, coffees and snacks throughout the day.
I hadn't been here for a good while so it was nice to return on a cold winter's morning and find service with a smile and a fire to keep the cafe cosy and warm. It is clean, very pleasantly decorated place with cards and a few gift items on sale. It opens very early in the morning and is a popular place for passers by needing breakfast and it continues to serve a range of casual meals throughout the day. My breakfast roll was freshly cooked and very pleasant and I would definitely come back here.
