I recently enjoyed a two night stay in the cottage apartment at the Star. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The bar was excellent with a terrific beer selection. The restaurant menu featured a large selection of tasty options. There were three people in my party, including two young men in their 20âs. We didnât eat the same meal twice and we were completely satisfied with every meal. Ken (the landlord) and his staff were welcoming and very helpful. I look forward to staying at the Star again.

My wife and I had a one night stop over at the Bell while walking the Cotswolds Way.Everything was excellent, the restaurant, the staff, beers and wines, and the rooms were wonderful. Breakfast was also a real treat - and dog friendly too!I was really impressed that the local english wines, which normally command a premium were competatively priced - clearly the Bell is doing it's bit to promote local produce and wines.By the way, if you are a Gin afficianado, then this is definitely the place to go. The selection of Gins is amazing.

I have enjoyed a few lovely quiet evenings in the Corner House and sampled their lovely food and drink; I was a fan, but unfortunately I made the mistake of visiting on a very busy Saturday evening the other weekend. I was with my family celebrating a birthday and engagement, I had had a few beers but I was no where near as drunk as the guy behind the bar who threw together the worst cocktail Iâve ever tasted, then disappeared off to serve someone else before I could finish my order. Any other time I would have presumed it was a free drink the way he left me but I waited. The owner/manager came along and didnât like me complaining. His response wasnât ideal either but, you know, he was very busy, Iâm not knocking that. He continued to make the remaining (nice) cocktails of my order but when I tried to say I wasnât happy to pay for the first horrific drink he decided he was going to serve me at all. Eventually I got my drinks, we drank them and we left as it was too busy and the experience had started to ruin my evening. I later found out that the drunk guy helping behind the bar caused a lot more trouble and cost to the business with similar antics throughout the evening. No matter what time of night or day of the week, and especially when youâre ordering a round of expensive cocktails, I expect 100% customer service and the Corner House failed to deliver with their not so helpful, drunk, bar staff. Itâs a shame. I would recommend the Corner House on a quiet occasion. But Iâm one of those people who stick to my guns and I now refuse to pay my hard earned money I to their till.

Sitting half way between Stroud and Nailsworth, this 250 year-old former coaching inn, built in the heyday of the Stroud wool industry, oozes rustic character and charm. The Old Fleece has a very relaxed and homely atmosphere and is run by a team of staff

I have visited for drink or food now 3 times. Nothing has been particularly bad, but likewise nothing has been particularly great.for example, The last two largers I have had have felt flat. . I wouldnât normally take to trip advisor, but on this occasion I felt it nessaary. I ordered fromThere takeaway pizzas menu. Stone baked that is offered as a dinner or a takeaway. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered they were burnt black on the underside. Others were made promptly. Things happen. However I was not expecting a lecture on stonebaked pizza as if I didnât know how they work. I have one in the garden by the way. Best to go to the Badger down the road where the service and food is always exceptionalHi Thomas H,Thanks for the review and bringing your experiences to my attention.I am sincerely sorry that your pizza was burnt, having spoken with the chef, it seems that we used too much flour on this occasion. I am pleased the replacements were better. We are very proud of our guest service, as you can see from previous reviews, so I can assure you that it was not our intention to 'lecture' you about wood-fired ovens. just offer an explanation from an apologetic team member.I am unable to comment on the lagers feeling flat as it wasn't brought to our attention at the time. I would like to note however that we use clean, branded lager glasses, regularly clean our beer lines and have a Cask Marque accreditation. The most likely scenario is that the gas may have needed changing so I have briefed the team accordingly on what to look for if the gas is running out.We love the Badger as well! I think Eastington is lucky to have two great hospitality businesses.I hope you will come back and visit us again. Kind regardsAnt

Visited here Saturday morning at prime time breakfast and I can see why itâs so busy! I had the 6 item breakfast - it was excellent, presented lovely, perfectly cooked and great value for money. My wife and daughter had bacon sandwiches which were great, very generous portion of bacon - what everyone wants on a Saturday morning! We took a pie to take home and I cannot wait to try, they seemed very popular amongst the other customers too.I would highly recommend The Bay Tree for great customer service, a warm and friendly environment and most importantly - fantastic food!

We decided to go to the George at Frocester for Sunday evening meal to celebrate our eldest's A level grades and his place at Cardiff University. Had looked online for menu but hadn't seen three roast dinners we all decided to plump for these two beef and two pork- gorgeous lovely gravy as a pour on and two lots of vegetables to share between four and two gravy boats. superb for the price and quality. I then decided to have the mini desserts plate which I then had to share with the rest of the table.- thoroughly recommend as small bites and tasters rather than feeling too full at the end of the evening - fabulous x

We use fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. We are passionate about anything that can be put on the table. We offer a casual dining experience and serve the classics well.
I booked a table for 5 for lunch a week in advance. Please note - booked. When we turned up we were informed that the restaurant had taken an outside catering job that day and consequently because they didn't have their chefs they had cancelled the lunchtime menu and we would have to order from the breakfast menu. 2 of the party felt that this was unacceptable and left. The 3 of us made the best of it & ordered Haddock Omelette and an egg & spinach dish which I can't remember the title of. It then transpired that they were fresh out of Haddock & Spinach, so we had plain omelette & poached egg.for lunch. They shouldn't have taken the booking.Outrageous.Hi Nick,Iâm so sorry to hear that you didnât enjoy your experience with us. We have always tried to ensure we give our customers a high standard of service and food. We have catering events every weekend but there is always a chef in BIRCH when we serve food. We serve a breakfast/brunch menu on a Saturday as weâre incredibly busy and this ensures we can serve people quickly whilst maintaining our high standards. We were extremely busy on the day you visited and we unexpectedly ran out of a few of the menu items. I will message you independently in order to make sure your next visit to BIRCH is satisfactory.
