Visited here on a Saturday night in July. Not what we expected, more of a pub type set up. Ordered mushrooms which sadly werenât the freshest and mainly âstringyâ mushrooms.Opted for fillet steak, this was ok, sauce quite watery but at least we had fresh mushrooms which were tasty as were chips. Service friendly but overall not convinced to rush back.

If you don't like this place, then its time to give up. Breakfast was second to none, and a class up from the normal. The interior is from a time gone bye and gives you a real flavour of a bye gone era. It was a miserable rainy Friday in Southport so I decided to drop into the office where at 6pm we were told they had a table available. The previous occasion when I ate here I thoroughly enjoyed the food although it was several years ago. We chose from the set menu and as previously the portion samples were adequate with being belly busting. It is worth bearing in mind that the specials offers carry an additional charge and the costs are only disclosed at the point of ordering. The food was well prepared and presented and the service was uninterrupted throughout the meal, which I found unusual. However having said this their were plenty of staff on duty and they made eye contact if in case we needed attending to. The only disappointment was that the chicken was a tad on the dry side and the accompanying Basil potato was "for my tastes" slightly over seasoned "too salty". The Hake and Lamb shoulder from the special were excellent as was the smoked Haddock risotto from the set menu starters. Keep up the good standards and despite the small critique I will be returning.

Visiting Southport from Newcastle to see friends and we booked a table for the Friday night . From the moment we arrived to the minute we left the staff were great. I was unsure about portion size so took the waitress advice and we ordered 2 pulled pork cheesy nacho between the 4 of us and was just as well any more starters would have spoilt the main course. I had the fillet steak medium rare and was cooked spot on all the trimming were hot and tasty. My wife had the hunters chicken with mash and thoroughly enjoyed . Our friends each had the fillet steak and chicken stroganoff one with no mushrooms and one with no onions.We all loved the meals but definatly no room for puddings. I would rate our night out as 10/10 for food ,service and drinks . Will definitely come back next time we visit Southport.

We visited this place as part of weekend with friends. Sandwiched between two slightly less desirable establishments we almost walked past but luckily one of our party had heard of it so we booked a table. How amazing! The restaurant has a comic book theme and the food is devine. The staff were relaxed and friendly. This place is a real must for visitors to the local area. We will be back!

We visited the above on Tuesday 24/9/19, we were warmly welcomed by all members of staff.We had heard a lot of good reports about the place and were eager to try it for ourselves,WE WERE NOT DISSAPOINTED!!!The fish and chips were some of the best I have ever tasted,cooked fresh and piping hot, served of course with mushy peas ,tea and bread and butter,absolutely delicious.The staff were most welcoming and quick to take your order.All in all a most enjoyable visit to a premesis we have been meaning to visit for ages.Keep up the good work, next time we visit Southport we will be seeing you again.Wow ! Thanks to trip advisor we went looking for this pub. been a few times now.good value, plenty of choice, specials board, comfortable, friendly staff and background music. Also musician playing in the secret garden which also has real ale casks.looks like they light a real fire on cold days.Had a different main each time now all delicious and the puddings are very tastyThank you Peter, thank you for supporting our recent beer festival and thank you for taking time to leave us such a fabulous review, we really do appreciate it. We lunched today and one of our party had eaten on many occasions. We had an excellent meal, beautifully presented and cooked. The young lady and bar were very pleasant, and yes she does have a smile on her face and nothing is too much trouble. The only drawback is there are only 28 covers, so you need to be quick off the mark to get a table.

Stopped by for lunch and had such a lovely time. The food was delicious, the service was great and the girls in there couldnât do enough for us! Despite it being busy, the staff were more than attentive and I didnât wait too long for food at all. Such a lovely spot! Canât wait for my next visit :)
