Find out what British restaurants to try in Sandown. Sandown is a seaside resort town and civil parish on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England, which neighbours the town of Shanklin to the south, with the village of Lake in between the two settlements. Sandown Bay is the name of the bay off the English Channel which both towns share, and it is notable for its long stretch of easily accessible golden sandy beach. It is the site of the lost Sandown Castle. Whilst undergoing construction, this was attacked by a French force which had fought its way over Culver Down from Whitecliff Bay, resulting in the French being repulsed. It was built too far into the sea and constantly suffered erosion, until now reduced to a pile of rocks. Later forts in the town include the Diamond Fort (named after its plan), built inshore to replace the castle and which fought off a minor attack from privateers (probably French) in 1788, and the present "Granite Fort" at Yaverland, which is now the zoo. Together with Shanklin, Sandown forms a built up area of 21,374 inhabitants.

Modern, beach front location with views out over the Chanel. Seating inside and out people watching no problem.Plenty of options on the menu. You can choose to cook your own food on a hot rock. As well as the normal seaside fare.Food is good but could be better with a little imagination. Staff are young and helpful happy to talk but need a little training. The inside decor needs softening.Could be a great place with location.

When we purchased this building that used to be HSBC Bank, we wanted to keep as many of the original features of this lovely building as we could. The managers office is now our snug room and the original counter was used to make the main bar top. Our ren
I liked this pub very much. The conversion from a bank has been well done, leaving lots of memories of the old bank in place--for example, in the writing on the windows and the interior design (one room is called "The Manager's Office"). Despite having high ceilings, it felt like a sociable place, with a sense of atmosphere. Locals were friendly and chatty; and the staff were easygoing yet quietly efficient. I had a couple of well-kept beers and a steak pie. The pie was very tasty. This is a pub that also has a restaurant, but you can eat the same food in the main parts of the pub as well. It's not expensive, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a good drink or a decent informal meal in the town.Wow thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit with us and glad you enjoyed your meal and felt comfortable and well looked after. We hope you will visit us again soon. Best wishesSue HarrisOwner.

We think that the Culver Haven Inn has some of the best views on the Isle of Wight. We also think it has delicious pub food, friendly bar staff and a cosy atmosphere. Well, we would wouldn't we? Why not come and check it for yourself? Don't forget, we are

This was our first visit for my wife and I and itâs really nice, very welcoming staff who were all really super all night. The scallops starters were excellent and both mains were really excellent. A good range of wines and beers. We both really enjoyed the evening except for just one small thing, we had a table for 2 just by the kitchen and by the window, so every dish went past us and the floor is so bouncy that our table rattled every time which eventually became a joke! Itâs also looking a bit âtiredâ in places too?

A warm welcome awaits at The Pointer, where Landlord and Lady, Rob and Rachel, invite you to join them in one of the Islands oldest, most historic pubs.
Stopped here on a Monday lunchtime for some refreshment after a 20 minutes ride from the ferry at East Cowes. Good beer as youâd expect from Fullers. Friendly and helpful staff in a lovely cosy bar. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, especially the ploughmans lunch.

A jazz cafe & vegan tapas bar with regular live music set in the courtyard of the picturesque and historic Staplehurst Grange.
We were at Django's for the music, wondering whether the long drive into the countryside would be worth it. Any fears were soon dispelled by the attractive setting, lovely buildings, and friendly welcome. I only had a piece of cake, but it was delicious. As delicious as the music, in fact, but Paul Armfield, like Django's, is well worth finding.
