Discover Restaurants offering the best British food in Romford, England, United Kingdom. Romford is a large town in east London, and the administrative centre of the London Borough of Havering. It is located 14.1 miles (22.7 km) northeast of Charing Cross and is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. It was historically a market town in the county of Essex and formed the administrative centre of the liberty of Havering, until it was dissolved in 1892. Good road links and the opening of the railway station in 1839 were key to the development of the town and the economic history of Romford is underpinned by a shift from agriculture to light industry and then to retail and commerce. As part of the suburban growth of London in the 20th century, Romford significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1937 and has formed part of Greater London since 1965. It now forms one of the largest commercial, retail, entertainment and leisure districts outside central London and has a developed night-time economy.

Great range of food, excellent value for money and lovely staff. The main problem I had was deciding what to order as they serve everything from steak dinners to buttered toast. When we finally decided, food was freshly prepared and hot. Lovely little cafe!

Great menu selection here at The Orange Tree. Light bites, mid-sized options or the full works with three courses. Entirely your choice. I had a Cajun Chicken Burger with cheese my wife chose the ham, egg and chips. Portion sizes are generous. Staff were quick to great and seat, polite and the service was very prompt but not rushed.Well done! We'll definitely be back as we're both spending more time in Havering.

Visited the restaurant/pub with my family including our 3 year old daughter. The welcoming was friendly and speedy. The internal decor was done to a high standard but retaining some original features. Simon who served us and the waitress were both friendly. There was good choice of food on the menu and we also had the option of specials which I had the lobster for the first time. Food can promptly and was super super tasty. Simon was very friendly and even recommended some local attractions for our daughter. It felt like we were in Michelin star restaurant but prices of the food did not reflect the same! They were very reasonable in fact. I.e lobster was £35. We were told where the lobster was sourced and provided with information on the different parts of the lobster and why they taste different. Was a truly amazing experience and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again. Cheers Simon

We came here on spec as we were passing by, the staff were extremely attentive especially to our 4 year old, offering to make us an off the menu items to please here (it wasn't needed), but we thought that was great. Two of us ordered of the Italian side of the menu, the gnocchi was really good! And the spag bol too apparently. I ordered steak, which was slightly over cooked but only slightly. It was also very very well priced too! I'd go back again to try the Italian food given my friends feedback on it.
