We are a small family run cafe, with emphasis on healthy, homemade, simple food and excellent coffee. We serve a selection of cooked breakfasts, light lunches, home baked cream teas and cakes
Stopped off here for a quick lunch. My son had the soup which he loved. I had the salmon tart which I thoroughly recommend. It came with salad and I didnât want onions so they were happy to remove these for me. The place is dog friendly so my spaniel was quite happy to sit under the table. They cooked a couple of sausages for him, which looked very good and he loved them. Interior is quirky but was quite busy when I went and all very friendly. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed your visit in our quirky parlour.

The Commercial is a former coaching inn run by the same family for over 100 years. We are an inn offering excellent value home cooked food using the fantastic local produce available to us wherever possible. There is a full bar menu with weekly specials f
Have been coming here for over 20 years for Sunday lunch with my family. Have happily given five star reviews before. The Sunday roast is usually awesome and excellent value for £8.50. In many ways it is a perfect venue with a public bar and , pool table, function room and smaller side room for additional eating.Last time we came was 4 months ago and it was fab. Today the general feeling from all of us was that things had let slip. Things didnât get off to a good start: we had to send some cutlery back because it had food on it. The young lady who served us kept forgetting to bring things we had asked for. We had to ask for our drinks twice and we ended up going up to the counter for the condiments which we had requested. Minor points perhaps but I donât think itâs unreasonable to expect your horseradish sauce with the beef. We chose to wait but risked the food going cold. With respect to the food, the Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and gravy were all great as usual. I felt the vegetable and meat portions were smaller and the beef was over cooked. This could have just been a blip: I gather there was a festival in St Just the previous day and one of the staff was as they described it was âhangingâ.If I were to offer a constructive observation it would be this; the Commercial always benefitted from the presence of the old lady who played the âmine hostâ role well. She circulated amongst the customers checking that everything was alright. That way any niggles were addressed early and corrected. On the occasion we visited it didnât feel like anyone was in charge. The staff didnât feel on it.I can see that the manager reads the reviews and I hope he/she understands that these comments have been as objective as possible. Dear nobster666Cardiff thank you for your comprehensive observations of last Sunday's lunch service. We have not changed anything about the way either serve or cook our roasts since your last visit 4 months ago so it is disappointing that you did not enjoy your roast this time around. We feel we still offer an incredibly good value, home cooked, traditional roast. Now I will address your other concerns. Yes you did visit us the day after our Lafrowda Festival weekend and yes I know one or two members of my young staff had turned up for work not at their best! However our Sunday lunch service should be the easiest of the week and you most certainly should not have had these problems. With regards the hosting, my dear Mum passed away suddenly last year (so you will most certainly have also missed her in her "mine host" role 4 months ago as well) and as such that is now another of my roles if I am not required in the kitchen with the chefs. However, this Sunday we must have missed one another probably because in between me popping in and out of the dining areas I spent the entire day cleaning the pub, getting stock put away, sorting tills, dealing with guests leaving and arriving and generally dealing with the aftermath of owning and running the biggest, busiest pub in the town following our busiest weekend of the year.So yes given the timing of your visit I am perfectly aware that The Commercial was not running at its best for this particular Sunday lunchtime but to be quite honest if you had seen the place the night before after we closed our doors I think you would quite frankly be amazed to see us up and running Sunday lunch service at all. However there is no excuse for you being given poor service since I have already stated Sunday lunch is by far the easiest of dinner services that we do because we do limit our menu due to the numbers that we cater for week in and week out. I welcome all reviews as I view them as a business tool by which you can learn and improve. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave us your thoughts.

Neill and Angie would like to welcome you to The Kings Arms A 14th Century Inn near Lands End in the heart of Poldark country Our fish comes from Newlyn and our meat is local as is most of our vegetables. Our eggs come from the local community farm. Food
Menu sounded great. Ordered Special: Fried Sea Bass with a Potato Cake and Seasonal Veg, no potato cake just small roast potatoes with a very slimy fried onion concoction, that had 3 pieces of Aubergine and Pepper in. Friendly staff. Disappointing.

Established in 1993, this friendly, family run fish and chip shop/cafe serves the tastiest fish and chips this side of the bridge (Tamar Bridge that is!). Cooked in the traditional way you can enjoy your food with a clear conscience, as all fish has come
Well - they donât seem to have retired yet! Had cod and chips, and then chips on their own for the vegetarian husband. The Northern owners were nice and friendly. My fish was lovely with great batter, chips were okay - I nearly always say that. Putting fish and chips in boxes is always a good idea, I think, because wrapped in greaseproof they suffered a bit even on the 1.5 mile drive home. Check the website, because the opening hours are variable and a bit random. Free car park opposite.

Feed the body and the mind at The Cook Book St. Just, a child and dog friendly cafe in the heart of Poldark country. Situated 'at the end of the world' in the lovely village of St. Just - one of the few places where you can still find Free Parking! Popula
We were doing the coastal route by bus- St Ives to St Just and arrived at lunch time. We chose the soup of the day - tomato, vegetable and lentil with fresh bread, and bacon butties and tea. The food was absolutely delicious and very plentiful. Lots of milk and hot water with the tea. I would recommend this place where the staff were very friendly and the food yummy- the helpings are probably suited more to those who have done a good hike rather than a bus ride!

We popped in for a pint and decided to stay for an early evening meal as well. Contrary to other recent reviews posted here, we were served fairly quickly by friendly staff. We both chose the home made chicken, ham and leek pies which were absolutely crammed with meat and delicious, served with new potatoes and vegetables. Pleasantly impressed with the food, I would definitely come back again.

Visited here first week after new year for friends birthday. Was busy considering the time of year. Had a lovely meal small scampi with half chips and half salad. My partner had large scampi and chips. Washed down with half litre of BlackBerry wine. The small portion was very large and ample and so delicious. Waiting staff very nice and friendly. Have only been here a few times as we live 15 min drive away. But will have to make it more regular it's so good you won't be disappointed. The two meals and wine and pint of coke was around £35 for the two of us. We all paid separately.

We were staying at the nearby campsite, and booked here as we could walk. Very pleased we did. Friendly staff and comfortable surroundings. My husband had the steak and ale pie, and I had the three cheese tart. Both were delicious and appeared home made, with crispy chips and perfectly cooked vegetables. Lovely chocolate pudding to finish. Will definitely return!!

Excellent home made cakes, fresh crab sandwiches, Pizzas and much more. Throughly recommend. This is a small cafe with just a couple of tables on the pavement - so you may have to have a take-away or just go and sit in the the square on he wall and eat. Well worth it.

The Dog and Rabbit had been recommended to us by the owners of our holiday accommodation so we were keen to try it. After a pleasant ten minute walk into the village, we received a warm greeting from staff. We arrived just as the cafe opened so we had the pick of the tables. It's an unusual building with lots of nooks and crannies. We loved the eclectic combination of furniture and all the interesting artwork on the walls - some of it by local artists. My husband ordered the 'Full Cornish' which he washed down with a breakfast tea and he told me it did not disappoint. I had the yummy smoky eggs (with smoked Applewood cheddar) on rye bread, plus a delicious turmeric latte. While we were eating the local window cleaner appeared and asked us to close the window above our table while he went about his work, which made us smile. The Dog and Rabbit is clearly woven deep into the fabric of this thriving Cornish village, and for good reason. We hope to visit again in the future!
