We ordered the beer battered haddock and chips from the senior/small appetite menu. It didn't disappoint - lovely main meal, couldn't fault it. For dessert I ordered cheesecake, but this was interpreted as cheeseboard, so there was a little delay in getting the correct dessert. When it came it looked wonderful but unfortunately the base was so hard I couldn't cut it with spoon or fork and almost broke the plate trying! I left the base and ate the rest which was very tasty. It was our first visit here and the jury's out on whether we'll go back. May go back for the haddock and chips though!Thank you for your review. We are very glad you enjoyed the fish and chips, it is a very popular dish on both our smaller appetites menu and main menu. We apologize for the chefs interpretation of cheesecake as cheese, but glad it was sorted out quickly.Hopefully this did not spoil your memory of us and you will be back to join us again!

This was my second visit to this lovely tea room. Decor lovely and very clean. Staff excellent as well as food and service. I had a breakfast sandwich abd a hot chocolate which was delicious. Definitely worth a visit, and cannot say one negative thing about this place.

Although the restaurant menu looked lovely, we chose to eat in the bar when we arrived late on Friday evening because the options were probably better for us at that time. We did however have breakfast in the restaurant the following morning. The cooked breakfast is a buffet, so you can choose exactly what you want - they even do vegetarian sausages, but I decided to order the eggs Florentine instead, which was a good choice. There's also a continental style breakfast with a small selection of individually wrapped cheeses, fruit, yogurt, bread, a variety of spreads, and pastries. Take a look around the walls, where there are pictures of famous Mancunians! You can order breakfast when you check in, or pay as you go which we did. A better commitment to the environment would be good, less individual plastic packaging, but I guess this is not easy when you're catering for people with different tastes.

1st visit was by chance. Someone had recommended this place , we were passing and called in on the off chance there was a table. The pub was busy and friendly, we were seated and chose the Friday fish deal. Best fish and chips weâve had in as long as I can remember, perfectly crisp batter, no grease, proper chips and mushy peas. Iâm guessing the tartare sauce was homemade, wether or not it was thick and creamy and delicious. We came away a little gobsmacked to be honest because it was so good. We returned a week later with friends. This time I had cheese and onion pie as did my friend. Once again I must say you would be hard pushed to find better. The boys had a mixed grill and giant fish and chips. All fabulous. 3rd visit I took my mum who had complained she couldnât get decent fish and chips anywhere! She conceded she had after tucking into hers, chosen from the light menu. She followed it with crumble and custard. I had a mouthwatering Eton mess. Definitely my new favourite place.

The White Hart is a quintessentially English Inn with Rooms. Heart warming log fires in winter, a wine list for the discerning palate yet affordable, great range of cask ales at pub prices and a 12 strong kitchen team. Bread is baked daily on the premises
I went with a party of 7 and we were all first time visitors and we were all very happy with both the excellent menu and friendly staff who were always willing to help. Great varied menu and excellent wine to.

Visited on Wednesday evening for dinner with the family. The restaurant was very busy as usual but we were greeted and seated within minutes by the friendly staff.Three of our party opted for the famed cheese and onion pie with chunky chips and beans. Huge portions of deliciousness were quickly served up and demolished. The fish and chips was equally scrumptious ...freshly fried haddock in a crispy beer batter with a generous portion of mushy peas. Price wise it's not the cheapest but can't fault the quality and service. Be back soon

We went to the smokeyard on Tues the 15th oct for a meal we booked for 24 people 10 days prior and menus were e-mailed to us to choose which we did and a deposit of £100 was given, on the night in question we were advised that even though we had booked the meal for 7.30pm that the restaurant closed at 9 pm.and there was no bar provided so we could have only 1 drink, the staff said they were not aware we had booked , poor food much of which was cold, poor service not enough staff no management only a young man of about 23 who had no idea how to cope with a complaint we will not be going again and I hope the owners read this review because you are losing business running the restaurant as you ste at the momentRichard,Myself and the team here are disappointed that you and your party had a visit with us that s not up to our 5 star standards, and for this, we apologise. Regarding our opening times, it would have only been our kitchen that closed at 9pm, however, if you are already with us, there would be no rush, and any extras, like desserts, could all still have been ordered. You were more than welcome to order more than one drink, this could have been provided with the bar in our upstairs restaurant or downstairs in the main restaurant, we never have and never will limit our parties as we have 2 bars situated in our location. We will be passing your comments onto the team here to make sure errors in service and food quality do not happen again to any of our guests. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Team SmokeYard :)

The restaurant was established in 1995 when Marco Senior and his son Paolo decided to create an authentic, family run family feel restaurant. The restaurant has built up a reputation as the perfect place for that intimate meal, or social and family occasi
Booked a table for 7 of us for Dads birthday. Communication issue resulting in half the group being in a different restaurant but no problem for the Old Bill letting us keep the table and treating us to a night never to be forgotten. Thank you.The food was as tasty as ever and the Flaming Brandy has to be seen.
