A new restaurant in Oakham from the award winning team at the Berkeley Arms Wymondham. Locally sourced produce in a lovely country kitchen setting.
We arrived for lunch, the restaurant was busy but the restaurant didnât feel overcrowded. Light and airy and tastefully decorated We were given a warm welcome and shown to our table and offered a choice of a set lunch or the al la carte menu. To be honest we could have chosen from either menu as both were full of delicious options. Service was professional, helpful and friendly and the food was exceptional. It is a very rare today to find such a lovely place to dine. Even though we live over 20 miles away, we will return.

The Lord Nelson is a beautiful pub tucked away in the heart of Oakham. As just one of two towns in Rutland, Oakham itself is packed with character. The Lord Nelson fits in perfectly â dating back to the 1500âs the building has been lovingly restored the K
We were looking for food at 6.30pm on a Friday night while passing close to Oakham. We had been recommended this place. What a great recommendation. Liked the quirky layout plus the cricketers wallpaper. Liked the way they did the food ordering and the food was excellent. Fish and chips for me, best chips for a long time and crunchy tasty battered fish. Pie for my husband, delicious.

You will enjoy stepping back in time in the quierky bar area. Wooden panelling and great fire place. I would recommend a visit in the winter to cash in on the cosy environment.

We popped in for mid morning coffees and were tempted to share a Baileys cheesecake, but unfortunately, the label hadnât been removed when they had sold the last portion, but I was persuaded to try the newly made strawberry cheesecake with plenty fresh fruit on top. Yum. The coffee was a decent strength too. Friendly staff. The only fault was that the music was too loud.

Came across this lovely place on our way back from Rutland Water. Arrived about 1.30 and went for the ciabattas (1 cheese and pickle, 1 Brie and bacon), both with potato wedges and coleslaw. Very tasty, and very filling - couldnât manage a dessert this time, but will definitely go back one evening before long. Very welcoming and friendly as well. So glad we found it.

Just been to a very succesful and funfilled wedding reception at Castle Cottage Cafe. Its Shabby Chic style was quirky, fun and something different from the norm. The venue was full of character and charm. Although it was on one of the wettest days of the year, the marquees stood up to the test and the weather didn't dampen the atmosphere. The time flew by and everyone had a great time. The food was really tasty, not heavy and perfect for a wedding, the salmon was amazing and had high reviews all round. It was surprising how many people could fit comfortably for a sit down meal. A big thank you to Steve and his young friendly and helpful staff for a great occasion. If you're looking for a wedding reception venue in the area I suggest you check this place out, you'l know immediately if it's the place for you.

First time here - great little cafe inside a market - only about 10 tables but we got in on a Saturday no problem. Menu specials were creative-we had the Cromer Crab and the Chorizo, Black pudding and egg on sourdough and both were excellent; portions were good. Brownie for dessert more than enough to share. Good value for money. Staff was fast, friendly, attentive.

Recently attended the wheatsheaf in Langham and it was as good as ever. We opted for the roast dinner which was magnificent. Really helpful staff and owners who go above and beyond to make sure you're accommodated and even bring out a legendary steak and ale pie, just because they wanted to ensure we were looked after!

Welcome to the Fox and Hounds in Knossington. We aim to provide a fine dining experience within the homely atmosphere of a country pub. All our food is local produce and freshly cooked to order by our wonderfull chef Roy. We welcome reservations.Opening t
We have now visited The Fox and Hounds on four occasions each time for Sunday lunch which is always superb.Because it is so good, and other people know about it, it is invariably fully booked and really it is necessary to book well in advance. This time we booked four weeks ahead. There were four of us all selecting beef for our main course, delicious, perfectly cooked as were all the vegetables, etc. Observation. Desserts chosen were accompanied by vanilla ice cream which lacked creaminess, it was rather watery.Staff are efficient and as the wheels of industry turn in the kitchen a well oiled performance is produced for all diners to enjoy. So looking forward to our next visit.
