I popped in yesterday (20/07/19) to grab a roll for lunch. I ordered and then I noticed the girl behind the food counter holding her trainer and scrubbing it with a toothbrush. When the young lad who served me turned to tell her my order she put the toothbrush on a counter with food on it, and went directly to pull a roll from the box. The young boy said âdonât you need to wash your handsâ she sighed, gave him a look and begrudgingly went and washed her hands. I took the roll but dumped it outside as I was horrified and quite frankly felt sick. Iâve eaten here quite a few times and now Iâm seriously questioning their hygiene procedures. Wonât be going back.

Our first night in Shetland, we had a big private dinner here. The staff were fantastic and the majority of the food was delicious. Starter of Mushroom with goats cheese, and main of venison steak with haggis were great. Pudding of white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake was just ok. Got to sample a few locals beers here too, one of which I ended up stocking up on to take back in the flight home. Overall, a very nice night here.

The Waterfront Bar and Grill at The Shetland Hotel has a wide choice of lunch and dinner options from an exyensive menu of contemporary informal dining; the website has the latest menu online at all times, with daily specials in addition.
Firstly this review is 100% genuine and just my opinion. The restsurant is very nice but very brown and beige throughout which makes it seem rather bland. My opinion is get some colour into the place ......this will enhance the dining experience considerably ....you deserve it .....candles on tables put a bit more flare into the pkace its too drab .....sorry if this offends.Try a feng shui master to visit it will make you thousands! The food was a delight as was the service.Good luck ....hope this helps may well see you all again soon.

Family friendly cafe serving snacks, home bakes and delicious coffee. Free wifi.
Located near Fort Charlotte, this excellent cafe provides great Java, both fresh brews as well as espresso and espresso-based hot beverages. Comfortable tables and chairs furnish the interior, and there is a corner dedicated to children, with toys and stuffed animals. You order at the counter, pay and are served your food and beverage. The cafe also serves hot waffles, sandwiches, soups, burgers and cold beverages. Prices are modest.

Lucky to have booked in advance for this Saturday night. No shortage of quantity on our plate and the steaks were perfect but the service slowed down as the restaurant filled. The young waiting staff were delightful and highly efficient but the kitchen was obviously struggling to keep on top of things. Nonetheless a pleasant meal.

New restaurant and bar offering high quality lunch and dinner focusing heavily on fresh local produce including seafood, meat and vegetarian options.
My wife and I had just arrived in Lerwick and were strolling around for a place to eat. We ended up having lunch at The String. The food was outstanding and we felt that it was reasonably priced. Between us we had a Pork Bao Bun, their soup of the day (potato), Shetland Haddock in beer batter and another special, small langoustine. Everything was delicious. Service was attentive and friendly.

Lunch and Coffe
Visit here a lot, good service, friendly staff. Good cup of (decaff) coffee in a busy friendly atmosphere, quieter through in the seating area away from counter.Great choice of salads and cake.I especially like the cheese scones and quiche, either takeaway or sit in.

Popped in here for a quick meal the other evening. I ordered a small smoked haddock and chips, when it arrived I was very glad I had gone small!! Very tasty and freshly cooked. The cafe is only small, but very clean and friendly. The chippy part of the shop was constantly busy, always a good sign.

Thi is a modern and well-located cafe/bar/restaurat in the heart of Lerwick. We stopped here a number of times for coffee and gluten-free cakes in the afternoon. The place gets booked-up quickly in the evenings and though we did not eat here I would recommend reserving a table in advance if you intend to.

We stopped for a break here last week when doing the round Lerwick walk. Really nicely decorated inside with a stunning view out to sea. Staff were very busy but friendly. Coffee good but the cakes are mouthwatering. We had a pancake and a triple chocolate shortbread cake. It was divine the most delicious Iâve ever tasted. We had to go back on our last day in Shetland to get some more. Iâve been googling recipes ever since in the hope of recreating it... no luck yet!Ps the toilets are great also , very clean and modern
