Went back to Marrigolds after a long break. Looking forward to their delicious fish and chips. What a LETDOWN. 2 large fish& 1 portion of chips £12.40. Must be good. Wrong. Fish dry. Batter stodgy. Chips lukewarm. Had we eaten in the restaurant we would have sent them back. Not worth the petrol money to take them back. Not like they used to be. Never going back.Dear Keith MWe are concerned to see this review if you see the clear majority of reviews we do not have this problem. This means that in general we're serving a good product for the price. Admittedly we may at sometime get something a little wrong or not to someones expectations for one reason or another but I guarantee there's never been a situation where we've never tried our best to please a (reasonable) customer. Therefore it is such a shame that people have to resort to telling the whole world on social media before speaking to us face to face or by even calling us on the phone. This has left you unhappy and us unhappy with no solution, when all it could have taken is a simple bit of communication.Something to think about before feeling unhappy about a situation a responding negatively without giving the situation a chance to be resolved. There could sometimes be a better way that exceeds our expectations.Alas for your Marigolds experience, we'll never know.P.s Thanks for free second bubble on the grading of your review. We we're sure we only deserved to have one for the terrible experience you had.

I was a bit worried to try the food here after reading a few reviews about the food and service but we gave it a try tonight. Service was a little poor, our table hadnât been wiped and we sat for over 10 mins kinda waiting to be noticed...a waiter walked past us a few times and seemed to pick and choose who he looked after and it wasnât us so we had to find someone to ask for this to be done. We were unsure whether we order ourselves at the bar or whether we get served but we went to the bar as menus were located at the doors and around the pub for you to grab yourselves. There was a bit of a queue to order but hey ho, quite busy for a midweek evening.I found the choice of meals to be lacking on the menu, there didnât seem to be very much to choose from at all and we couldnât see any specials anywhere. Food itself was nice, nothing great about it but it was presented well and hot. The puddings were better than the mains and my peach cheesecake was really tasty. All in all, an average pub meal, we probably would return but maybe just for a drink.

Regularly visit on a Saturday morning while my son is at dance class to have breakfast with husband and daughter. The food is always delicious, lots of nice variety on the menu and freshly made. My husband loves the healthy juices too. The girls who work there are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble! The busy bags for the children are also great and keep little ones occupied! Highly recommend a visit if you haven't already been, you will not be disappointed!

Nice bar/restaurant. Decor is cosy but modern, there is a large outdoor seating area, which is great when the weather is warm. Downside is that there is no table service outside, so to order food/drinks you have to go inside each time.Had a large selection of the Tapas/Small Plates type food, which all came pretty quickly, and piping hot. Most were excellent, would highly recommend the Chunky Chips (these were my personal favourite, absolutely delicious), chicken strips with chimichurri sauce, crispy beef (this was in a delicious sauce, we used to mop up our garlic bread afterwards), salt and pepper halloumi fries (YUM!!! Restaurants never seem to get that Salt and Pepper right, but these definitely did).A couple of us had prawns, which were a massive disappointment "pan fried" they definitely were not, they were still white and pink, more like poached/boiled/reheated, and there was a butter heavy sauce, not white wine. We couldn't eat much of these, beyond trying them unfortunately. The nachos were a bit of a conundrum, when first served they were delicious, seemingly hand made and large. However they were covered in cheese and a cheese type sauce, and stood up around all of the dips, so after a few minutes they were all completely soggy and inedible.A selection of a couple of desserts would be a welcome addition also. Can't really complain for the price and service, I'd be back, would just avoid ordering the above again.

Scrummy food. Amazing scallops which cut so easily, like a knife through butter. Duck with vegetables and dauphinois potatoes; finished with chocolate fondant. Yum.Iâve even used the YouTube video to make the chocolate fondants myself. Delicious and very successful even for my first time!Yes Iâll be back, for sure

Aubergine is a warm and friendly licensed café situated on a quiet pedestrianised side street just off The Crescent, West Kirby. We offer good food with friendly service and excellent prices.
Hidden away, yet providing good fresh food is this cafe in west Kirby. Had just a dude if chorizo with my drink, which was both tasty and generous and only £2. This said, the prices in general where above average .

First time eating here for a party of four. Decor is very tasteful and pleasant and done to a high standard. Not a huge menu to choose from but we all found food we were happy with. Service was decent, not the most attentive however it was unobtrusive. Party for 4 with drinks around £170 with tip

We went here for breakfast recently and unfortunately wonât be returning. We asked for the bacon to be crispy but it was hard when it was served (thereâs a difference between crispy and burnt). The biggest issue for me though was that the place looks like it needs a good clean everywhere and some TLC. Itâs trying to bit a vintage-style tea room but sadly we felt it was more of a greasy caff. With some many places to choose from in the local area I feel the owners need to up their game.

Myself and 5 friends had the most wonderful meal midweek. The service was excellent, the surroundings really nice but the food was the key. All home cooked and fresh and fantastic value. Itâs a restaurant I would return to like a shot if I lived locally. Next time I am in Hoylake, it is top of my list of destinations. Wonderful.!!
