The best pints of real ale in Castleton! Great selection of ale and very well kept! Good gin selection too. The food menu had lots of choice and they have a sausage and mash pick ânâ mix too - choose your type of sausages eg pork and apple, vegetarian etc, then your mash eg cheesy, mustard etc then your gravy or sauce eg onion, peppercorn etc. you can also have it in a large Yorkshire pud! And we got homemade onion rings. The other half had steak and said it was beautiful and cooked perfectly! Really good food and even better ale! Visited several times during our stay.

We had Afternoon Tea in the Orangery Restaurant consisting of a selection of finger sandwiches served on white and brown bread, these included smoked salmon, Bennetts' Hope Valley free range eggs with mayonnaise, cucumber and Peak District ham and mustard. Warm, freshly baked scones with whipped cream and strawberry jam and a selection of seasonal home-made cakes, Afternoon Tea costs £15.95 per person and in my opinion is well worth it. The hotel uses local naturally grown/free range produce wherever they can and it shows in the taste.I would definitely recommend this Hotel if you like peace and quiet and stunning scenery along with friendly efficient staff.

Stopped off here a couple of times while out walking from Castleton. Friendly young chap behind the bar both times. Good selection of real ale on the bar. Shared a baked Camembert infused with rosemary and garlic, which came with plenty of bread, and it was divine!!!Hello.Thank you so much for such a great review. I really couldn't be happier to hear that you enjoyed our Camembert, and very impressed with your knowledge. Most people wouldn't have noticed the rosemary and garlic. You are most welcome to join us again at your earliest convenience. Thank you again. I hope to see you again soon.Rick

Fully Licensed Tea Rooms, serving breakfasts and lunches. We serve an array of homemade cakes, with a wide selection of hot & cold drinks available.
We enjoyed delicious ham, eggs and chips followed by equally delicious apple pie served by friendly, smiling staff. And we were fascinated by the story told on the menu of the history of the building, including the fact that for many years there was a public footpath which went right through it and which was used by funeral processions going to the church. Now internally it is light and bright with an ideal ambience for a relaxing lunch. To be recommended.

The Samuel Fox Country Inn, Bradwell in the Hope Valley is conveniently located at the heart of the glorious Peak District National Park. It has four beautifully appointed letting rooms and since October 2012 has been in the hands of chef patron James Duc
Comfortable room, very comfortable bed. Evening meal was pretty much as good as it gets even when compared to the best London dining establishments and service was a nice mix of professionalism and personal engagement. The locals that live nearby are exceptionally lucky to this place in their area.

Traditional English Tearooms set in the beautiful village of Castleton
Came here for a spot of lunch and so glad we picked the right tearoom to go to in Castleton. The ladies were approachable and friendly, asked if we wanted tap water, didn't bat an eyelid to my strange request of having tuna PLUS beans and cheese on my jacket potato. The jacket potato was luscious and my boyfriend had the jacket with the local stilton and mushroom sauce filling - which I tasted! - and it was very impressive. Great portions of food so amazingly well priced, we also split a pot of tea and a scone, the latter to die for, came to us warmed and after we had our jackets as requested. Really nice atmosphere. Thank you ladies!

Short, seasonal & contemporary menu & speciality coffee in the heart of the Peak District. Pop up food evenings
We decided to drive out to this cafe from Stockport on Sunday 7/7/19.We arrived to no welcome, menu is limited when looking for healthy options. A good point is the blackboard that states local suppliers. I opted for the Avocado on sourdough & flat white my husband opted for the cheese & onion toastie plus a pot of tea. My husband went to order & pay and before he came back to the table a young girl arrived to inform us that my choice was off the menu. The young girl asked if I would come to the till to order an alternative and sort out the difference in cost. I ordered a cheese & ham toastie which was ok but far too much cheese for both of us and greasy. The coffee was delicious. We thought about having a cake but the cabinet was nearly empty and what was there was not appealing.Customer service aspect of our visit rates at zero due to being unfriendly and the young lad clearing the tables had reprimanded the girl 3 times in front of others whilst we kept refilling our water glasses. Very unprofessional and not fair on the girl who was nervous when she arrived at our table. The lad clearing the tables had no smile and no interaction with anyone not even eye contact. We left without a goodbye or thank-you from anybody. We then went into Castleton and went into another cafe and had tea & cake, it was worlds apart. We both have 35+ years each of customer service skills and number one rule is make sure the customer feels valued and you are grateful for their custom. HiI am sorry you were disappointed with your visit to us, particularly as we pride ourselves on good customer service. We are a casual dining establishment though and you order at the till point, which might be why you were not met as you walked in.We offer a short fresh menu to provide quality and reduce food waste. As it was a Sunday we were extremely busy and it meant some items had sold out, so I appreciate you could not get your first choice and as all cakes are homemade there may have been a reduced selection as I said we had been very busy.I am sorry the grilled cheese sandwich did not meet your expectations, however it is in the American style and we get many reviews saying people love them, therefore I would say this must have come down to your personal taste. However I am pleased you enjoyed your coffee!I have to say I am a bit confused on your comments over a member of staff being reprimanded as we have a great friendly team and I was not aware of such an incident at the time, nor did any member of staff mention anything. I am sorry if you felt they did not interact with you as much as you would have liked, however on busy days we do like to make sure tables are cleared efficiently.Of course all staff should be friendly and approachable and I do not believe your experience is representative of the Grasshopper, which is shown In the many positive reviews we get.Of course if you mentioned you had any issues at the time we would have done our best to resolve them.

Stopped here for something to eat, en route to Edale. They had a nifty "mini lunch" menu where you got two or three courses for £11 or £13 respectively .. portions come large in the Peak District so that suited me just fine and two courses was more than enough .. excellent food too. The pub is characterful and I recommend it
