Situated in historic Rochester High Street, Kent. The 1940's ambience of the tea room and its location creates the perfect atmosphere for a Breakfast, Lunch including a homemade "vintage dish of the day" and Afternoon Tea. There really is something for ev

Smoke & Liquor opens on 30th May 2018. Run by the same team that brought you Topes since 2004, S & L is a fresh, new bar and restaurant with a non-bookable bar area, reservable tables and offers a fantastic range of gin and rum. The menu is a fusion of bo
Food and drinks fabulous. Decor and setting amazing. The middle aged manager/waitress with the blonde hair in a pony IS SO RUDE Never again Hi thereGlad you enjoyed the food, drink and setting, Sad to think Iâm now middle-aged Apologies if you felt I was rude - we normally allow a couple of hours for diners and had managed to let you stay for three and half hours. However, the table after you were waiting at the very busy bar and we needed to get the table ready for them. Sorry that there wasnât another table you could have switched to. Julie

Had the Dickens breakfast which was amazing! Loads of food beautifully cooked and all of a fantastic quality. I would recommend this place wholeheartedly. Not fine dining - just good solid wholesome food served by incredibly friendly staff. Incredible value for money. Other places would charge double or treble. Very happy and will be returning

Went for meal with my wife a couple of weeks ago and looks like we got a poor lunchtime! Arrived just after midday and were the only couple in restaurant until another party arrived later. Friendly enough when we ordered our drinks and food - a beer and soft drink with Lasagne and Hunters Chicken. The barman said he will bring the drinks over when done. Some 15-20 minutes we spotted another bar person in the other bar and asked about the drinks - 'what would you like?' They had forgotten the order. The food came later and we started. Eating my hunters chicken I noticed that it did have any bacon and opened it up so my wife could verify it. Waited to see if the staff came to check all was OK. Still no one in view so decided to continue because who wants to dine at different times if it needed redoing. Probably the poorest Hunters Chicken I have had. My wife's Lasagne was also disappointing and left most of it. The owner/original bar collected the plates so I asked how they cook my meal with or without bacon and that the chicken was dry - he did not know and went and asked in the kitchen. Where we heard 'You forgot the bacon.... No I did not.... ' Well they certainly did. He returned and said he would adjust the bill. A reduction of £2. We can understand mistakes when a restaurant is very busy but when only a handful of diners!

This was our first visit to Mrs Tickitâs Pantry and definitely wonât be our last. We had a lovely visit made even better that we could sit inside with our dog, the ladies who work there are very friendly and chatty and really make you and your pet feel welcome. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. If you like old-fashioned tea shops that are warm and cosy and you like to drink your tea out of bone China teacups, and like homemade cakes and scones you will love Mrs Tickitâs.Looking at the other tables food it looked nice and fresh and appetizing. The whole place was spotlessly clean, including the toilets which had an old cooking range in (see photo). Weâll be back to try out the lunch.

The Harrow Inn at Lidsing Pub & Restaurant in Kent is a fantastic country Pub and Restaurant, steeped in over 220 years of history and heritage.Located in the small Hamlet of Lidsing, just outside Maidstone, Gillingham and Lordswood the building itself ha
My friends and I have been meeting monthly for lunch for a long while now and have been in many a hostelry and tea shops in the towns.Today was our second visit to The Harrow and it was as welcoming as the first visit.Clare ,the owner is a delight and could not be more helpful and had lit the fire to warm it up as it was so miserable out. To walk into a pub's restaurant and see tables set with white clothes and shiny cutlery,a flower and glassware is a joy to me.We had wonderful freshly cooked fish finger sandwiches(real fish) cooked to perfection and wonderful light batter one friend had a bruschetta with chilli and cheese and another had mushroom soup which she pronounced "the best she had ever tasted".On our previous visit ,there had been mention of Lemon Meringue Pie and Clare had one today especially for us,it was delicious. So we sat and chatted drinking our tap water and decided to book our Christmas lunch and obviously, booking next months lunch although seeing the menu we have decided to have a cooked main next time and the order for our Lemon Meringue Pie is also in the book. It may be slightly off the beaten track but it is so worth a visit we could not fault it thank you Clare and staffThank you for your glowing review. It is lovely to know that you are coming back with your friends and family over the coming months. Hopefully you will get to enjoy all the food on the menu. I look forward to seeing you next month if not sooner.

A warm welcome to Elizabeth's, our family run restaurant in Rochester, Kent. Manuel & Cristina opened this beautiful 16th century Tudor building as a restaurant in 1992. The restored beams, exposed brickwork and classic vintage design pieces create an ele
British cuisine with a touch of an appealing quality. It is not your humble restaurant, as humble as the historic Elizabethâs restaurant building. There is a sense of prim and proper ness to the service, food preparation and itâs interior queues.A soup and bread amuse bouchée whet the appetite before the starter was served. The beetroot fritters were excellent; it was great seeing such an ingenious dish on the menu. The main, the nut roast, may have lacked a piquant of flavour. It was moist and crumbly, the combination of this with the sautéed potatoes and sides of vegetables made for an enjoyable end to dinner.

We went on Saturday evening for only the second time, despite only living a mile or so away in Rainham, and once again were blown away at how good this place is. Yes, the decor is a little tired and the toilets not really adequate size-wise for the number of covers this place can get on a busy weekend evening, but the manager has obviously done his homework on customer service and how to keep people happy - from the moment we walked in, it was smiles all the way and nothing was a problem. The plentiful staff appear happy in their jobs and this is reflected in the service which was top notch. Greeted at the door and thanks and wished well when we left makes for happy customers too.The range of food was very good, and upon enquiry, discovered that there was a weekend special menu which was £20.90 for three courses which when you see the portion size, is excellent value. It's good-quality food you might make at home yourself, served with a smile. What's not to like?Shipyard IPA was £4.50 a pint, which I think is a little on the high side for Gillingham and none of the pints we were served appeared to be 100% full, but didn't want to make a fuss. And one of our party wanted soda water and this came out at room temperature which was disappointing. OK, the glass had ice in it, but this of course melted quickly once the liquid was poured over it, but overall a tiny thing really. We've been so starved of decent non-chain restaurants lately that this place has now gone to the top of our go-to list for eating options.Rowlands: Keep doing what you do and we will keep coming back.
