We visited mid-week lunchtime, four adults and two children. We stipped here because there were some picnic tables in the rear garden. We ordered the food then nipped outside. It was ready in about five minutes. We all enjoyed it . The fish was tasty with quite thin batter which was cooked all the way through. The chips were quite small but crispy and very good. The young woman who served us was pleasant and helpful.

We stopped in for lunch, before checking into a local hotel. Situated right next to a huge caravan site, good old style basic british pub food style. Gluten free menu, which was great. We had the nachos the share, and when it came out the guacamole was light brown, and tasted sour - gone off. We are around it, and mentioned to the waitress about it after she came to clear the plate. She took it away, and must have tested it with the chef - apparently not, nothing wrong with it! Sorry but guacamole should be green, like the avocado its made of. Obviously don't take feedback too well.

Really nice cafe with farm produce for sale and selection of very nice inexpensive gifts. Very friendly and welcoming staff, top marks. They donât allow dogs inside although there is a nice courtyard round the back, part of which is covered. You have to walk past the bins to get to the courtyard which is really off putting. They need to have a sign up directing dog owners, move bins and Oberhausen have some planters at the alley to make it more appealing, we had coffee and cake. The cakes were huge and I gave to say it was a case of size over taste and quality. We go to a lot if cafes, farm shops etc and the coffee was lovely and hot but on taste, really poor. Sorry, but I think it is important to review how I find things to be. They have a great reputation on reasonably priced breakfasts, so we will return to try them out soon. Sorry, just a few tweaks and I can see you hitting the five star rating. Nice farm animals outside and there is.additional seating and tables here as well.

Typical village pub, in rural East Yorkshire, serving traditional good pub food in both the bar and the restaurant. (Booking advised particularly at weekends or Bank Holidays) Serving a good selection of both cask and pumped beers. At the heart of the vil
Impromptu meal for two. Arrived around 6.30pm. Friendly welcome; no rush to show us to our table so, had drinks at bar first. Excellent service. Ordered meals obviously cooked fresh. Comprehensive menu.My companion chose a ribeye steak (done medium to prefection) with the usual trimmings), I chose the scampi, chips and peas...first class.Friendly atmosphere. Recommended.

My husband and I visited The Royal Dog and Duck early this September. We had rib-eye steak each. Our meal was delicious, in fact, we visited twice more during our holiday. The lamb shank was delicious too. Very reasonable prices too. The beer is good price too. Will be visiting again when on holiday in the area.

Came here last Friday with family.Nice place with plenty of space in-between tables and nice staff.I had the burger which was mostly good.It was served on a really soft lovely pretzel bun and the meat was nice. The outside of the burger had a nice crunchy 'crust' although strangely I burnt my mouth when taking the first bite as loads of steam came out of it. And the burger stayed boiling hot until I finished it, not sure how it was possible to be that hot in the first place! The meat tasted nice but did have a slightly strange texture, almost like a Quorn burger. I did check it a few times to make sure it really was beef but I'm quite sure it was.(I had a burger here a year ago which was amazing but unfortunately this time didn't match up with my previous experience)I paid extra to upgrade to the twice cooked chips. Not sure it was worth the upgrade. They were pale and could have been softer in the middle. Also paid to add cheese to the burger (which added to the chip upgrade and the base price of the burger made it not worth the money)Very good lasagne which came with two massive pieces of lovely garlic bread.Food did take a long time to arrive, but it was worth it.The service seemed a little slow in general.Asked for the bill and waited a while even though there were people free to do it, so maybe more of a communication issue. Eventually had to ask someone else for it!Overall a nice meal but there are a few pubs and restaurants in the area with same or better food quality for cheaper prices which I prefer.

Located on the beautiful and dramatic cliffs of East Yorkshire, The North Star Hotel has an award winning restaurant famous for fresh Flamborough seafood and wild game caught on the Yorkshire Wolds. Local produce is prepared and presented by classically t
We recently paid our second-ever visit to The North Star restaurant, and it will definitely be our last, mainly due to staff attitude. When our party of four arrived at 7pm, the waitress was very prompt in taking our drinks orders. Sadly, its actual arrival was far from prompt, as we had to wait for almost half-an-hour, by which time we were all dying of thirst. On commenting to the waitress that we had been waiting a long time, far from apologising, her response was "You would have got it sooner if I had more than one pair of hands". Considering that the restaurant was only about a quarter full, this was far less than acceptable. A second less-than-polite waitress arrived to take our food orders, and could not disguise the fact that she was displeased over our long deliberations. Maybe they have to pay her extra to be pleasant. Only one member of staff, to whom we paid our bill, treated us like human beings rather than something nasty they had just scraped off their shoe. The food itself was nothing to write home about and overpriced. Our verdict was that none of us would ever set foot in there again. The following night we enjoyed a meal at the Viking Hotel across the road, which was far better value and with much friendlier staff.

Nice small warm cosy pubGood menu and still had roasts available when we got there at 6pm on Sunday.I had the 8oz burger. Really nice and meaty taste with a lovely charred outside which was nice and crunchy but still juicy and soft inside. It came with 3 giant lovely onion rings and a massive portion of salad. Then he said "I'll be back with your chips" and reappeared with a giant bowl of chips! The chips were lovely. Like fish and chip shop chips but not greasy at all, and lovely and soft inside. My wife had the fish and chips and it was the biggest portion of battered fish I've ever seen. And tasted great as well. Lovely light batter and really nice fish.My mother in law had the ham, egg and chips which was also a massive portion (she brought half the ham home!)Very good service, although a bit slow at times but they were very busy and it wasn't an issue as they were so friendly. The prices here are much cheaper than other pubs/restaurants in the area, but the food quality and portion sizes are also much better than other local places. We saw the dessert blackboard and everything sounded really nice, and also so much cheaper than other places, but we were so stuffed from the main courses we couldn't manage desserts.Unfortunately we're going home tomorrow otherwise we'd definitely eat here again, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.(Make sure you book as it gets busy)

Called here this morning for breakfast after a long walk ..we walked in and was met by the male owner who was wiping table's..he said "what you wanting"we replied "breakfast"he said it finishes at 10.45 ..i looked at my fone it was 10.51..6 minutes late ..he never offered us anything else like would you like to see menu or would you like a drink ..he just said to us.. as it says in the board breakfast till 10.45 ..how ignorant he was ..so we can't rate the food as we never got the chance..so we went round the corner to a lovely little cafe where the food was lovely and so was the lady ..srumdiddlyumtious cafe highly recommendedHi Jackie g I'm so sorry to read that you had an unpleasant experience with us and can only apologise that you felt Jonathan was ignorant towards you, I have spoken to him and he says he just explained to you that breakfasts had finished and it does say on the board till 10.45 only, Jonathan wouldn't of offered you a menu or a drink as nothing is served again untill 12 clock.Outside the front door there is an extremely large blackboard that clearly states in large letters BREAKFASTS FINISH @ 10.45AM THERE IS NO FOOD SERVED BETWEEN 10.45AM and 12 O'CLOCK, also there is a blackboard on the front door that clearly states the same.I would just like to make clear why we finish food at 10.45am, we are an EXTREMELY busy cafe therefore between those hours we need to get the kitchen changed over, meaning all the breakfasts foods put away and all the luncheon meals prepared and ready for service, the cafe also needs cleaning up, tables redressed and reserved ready for lunch time reservations, this takes time depending on just how busy it has been, I am so pleased that you managed to get lovely food and service at another cafe that had plenty of time to cater for you, I feel it such a shame that your ignorance of our policies overcame you and you felt the need to leave a one star rating for a dining experience you never had and so rude as to publicly advertise another establishment on our page I think the ignorance here is on the other foot, many thanks Karen (owner)
