We had the steak meal last Friday here - and after calling in over the last few months have seen some marked changes .. cleaner and better . The place has had an overhaul. Staff seem to be trying to improve the place. There are more real ales to chose from previously and they taste as if they are being looked after well. Tables look better and the place has had a lick of paint and some added touches that make it feel like a pub eatery. The current staff seem more clued in to customers. The steak meat was delicious and the meal very nice. They are adding in more things in the week - like a pub quiz, curry night - and some live music .. working hard to make it work .. It just needs the right clientel and enough of them as there is local competition - the club, the italian and other pubs on their doorstep ... so they will need to be consistent and keep going...and developing all the time...

The Old Hill Inn is an ancient inn of great character, part of which dates back to 1615 and the other part 1835. Originally a farm, then Drovers inn, now specialising in delicious home cooked food and excellent puddings. A family of chefs run the establis
Six of us had a wonderful meal here on Tuesday evening. Great service, really well cooked food and imaginative and well presented desserts. Enjoyed it so much that we returned on Wednesday evening for a repeat performance and we were all equally impressed. Recommend for great food, friendly service, old world ambience and good selection of beers.

Have either a Take-away or Sit-in on a regular basis and always have a good portion (have to ask for less sometimes) and always flavourful. It would be nice to see a âguest fishâ every now and then to make a change form the usual good offer.

We visited The Three Hares while the monthly artisan market was on so the place was bustling. This didnât daunt the couple running it who juggled selling to people who popped in for bread and buns with customers at tables. The coffee and cinnamon bun (they looked home-cooked) were excellent and, IMPORTANTLY, the background music was some low-key jazz (perfect).

My Wife and I were travelling from Newcastle to home on Friday 23rd August, 2019. We called in Main Street, Sedburgh, but the cafe we had planned to visit was closed for a week (presumably on holiday). However we searched Main Street and found Smatts Duo Cafe Bar & Bistro. It wasn't ideal as the menu was not to our taste. Somewhat reluctantly we went inside as we were both hungry. First impressions were not good. The tables and chairs were heavy and difficult to move. Also we selected a table (only one empty) near the front entrance door and was very draughty when customers entered or left. Also we noticed three dogs in the cafe which we didn't feel too comfortable with. Don't misunderstand us - we like dogs - but not in a crowded cafe. The menu was quite restrictive but decided to order Jacket Potato with cheese. The food was poorly presented with plates too small and more salad than needed. Sadly we did not enjoy it. I do not like to give bad reviews (most people seem to like this cafe) but on this occasion was not one of our favourite eateries.

This pub is old, but probably doesn't make the most of itself. The tired decor and furniture needs a makeover, and this would be a good opportunity to strip the gloss paint from the beams and generally celebrate the building's story. Food is generous but not terrific. Choice of beers ... especially real and cask ales ... could also be better.

This is not a 5 Star Restaurant, but rather a small cafe in a remote village. The food was great and very obviously home cooked and fresh. The service was also very good. It's a great place to get a feel of the local culture. It was full of hikers that had been out for the morning and were getting a late lunch.
