We were stopping locally and found the Witching Post rather by accident (nearest Pub) and so glad we did , we had two visits - Friday evening (steak night free bottle of wine) and then booked Sunday Lunch , We were really pleased with our meals especially generous steaks which were cooked to perfection , Luckily we had the foresight to book up for Sunday Lunch which was equally satisfying , we certainly return and would heartily recommend to all

Caravanning nearby, we popped in for Sunday carvery as recommended to us. Sat outside on one if the hottest days of the year. Sunday lunch was roast beef or pork. Amazing large slices of meat served with mash, roasties, mushy peas etc..A proper old fashioned Sunday lunch with fabulous gravy. Reasonably priced. My little boy said the beef was the best ever...! Wish we lived nearer.. but will return next time we are in area!

I have dale head farm shepherds hut as well but cant bring it up on the system but keep getting enquiries about it? How do I locate it please
Almost impossible to find, we had a farmer laughing at us as we ended up almost in his field! Eventually we got there and it was worth the search. We had coffee and home made scones and they were very tasty. The views were fantastic and the staff were friendly. Service slightly on the slow side but the sun was shining and we didnât really care! Lovely place!

Karen and Alistair have created the most amazing village pub with fabulous food. All are welcomed warmly, including dogs and children, and we love a trip to eat and also sample the great beers, wine and gin selection. Cyclists, walkers and townies(like me) are happy to chat to other guests. I have enjoyed many meals here -a Duck Race BBQ , hefty ham sandwich and chunky chips, Sunday roast lamb beef pork duck or venison all sourced locally, platters of meat and cheese. The menu is extensive and vegans are well catered for, just ask if you don't see something you fancy, Alastair will cook a gourmet dish specially for you. I hope I can still get a table here as people really should come and enjoy this gorgeous pub and restaurant.
We were enjoying a day out driving on the Yorkshire Moors and looking for somewhere for lunch. This proved to be a good find. The cafe is housed alongside the Moors Centre in a row of country cottages and looks very attractive from the outside. Inside it was bright and cosy on a bit of a dismal day. There was a good choice of light lunch items on the menu. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was well presented and tasty.

My Friend and I spent a very enjoyable weekend at this wonderful country pub. The accommodation was very comfortable and could not be beaten. We had a lovely view from our bedroom window. The meals were absolutely delicious. The service was second to none. The location was ideal and off road parking counted for a lot with me. I will definitely revisit. My Friend is back home in Oz now but I know she would agree with my sentiments.Thank you for your lovely review Your comments are really nice and very much appreciated So pleased you both enjoyed your stay with us It was lovely meeting you both Julie

Pub is lovely but when my husband and I asked for a table for two- we were told they were fully booked quarter to 6 30 December? No problem - had a few drinks in the bar - we saw a group of 6 eat in the hour we were in the pubWe got talking to two male residents of the pub and they said we could join them for foodWhen the owner was asked if this was ok- he replied no as we were not residents and it was the 30th DecemberWe just laughed and the two residents shared their chips with usUtterly ridiculous!!!We have heard since that the owner likes to make his own rules up regarding food times?Safe to say we will not be visiting again and we will not be recommending the pub to anyone we know- just feel itâs such a shame for the area!?!

Shepherds Hall was built in 1873 and was a meeting place for the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds. It is now a fabulous tea rooms, craft gallery and has a lovely tea garden along with ample free parking. A lovely relaxed atmosphere, home baking and food p
Got tables indoors and outdoors and a great menu of light bites and more substantial food, plus cakes and puddings. We had some sandwiches and pop which had good ingredients and were cut well, with salad and crisps. Good value and the people serving were friendly and cheerful, so definitely recommend this place if your passing or visiting. Thanks.Thank you for your review and mentioning our staff. We think they are fab and do an amazing job for us.

I stayed for 4 nights with a group of friends. Rooms smallish but good value and clean. Food simple hearty pub grub. Decent beer (Landlord, Theakstons, Wainwrights). Staff friendly and happy to be flexible. Our breakfast was served in the games room one day so we could watch the Wales v Australia rugby and our final bill split 6 ways efficiently and with no fuss.I would stay again without hesitation and would recommend it particularly for a group walking holiday.

The outside isn't the prettiest building but inside in nice and the patio overlooks the bowling green and rolling hills . Pleasant staff , prices very reasonable. Nothing special but fills a need when in the area, wouldnt suggest going out of your way though. More of a cafe than a tea room.
