Full marks to the Manager for redeeming this restaurant with a generous discount after a disappointing dining experience. Great first impression, warm welcome, lovely table linen, nautical artwork, vibrant atmosphere but issues with the food and the service led us to consult with the Manager who understood that like everybody else we prefer to have a carefree meal.

With its divine location right on the River Cam, Midsummer House is among East Anglia's best restaurants. Once you've finished punting down the river and taking in the sights and sounds of the beautiful university city of Cambridge, pay Midsummer House a
There were 2 of us for lunch. Service was unhurried and attentive. Every course was lovely and adjustments made for dishes that contained items we wouldn't enjoy. We walked across the common and had a slight difficulty locating it but really that was not big problem.

Independent British restaurant offering quality freshly prepared and cooked food with excellent service. Menu biased towards fresh fish with meat,Vegetarian and Gluten Free options.
What a great find. Although it was early in the evening we came across this restaurant looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday evening. Although it was busy, they found a table for us downstairs. Service was excellent and we all chose from the pre-theatre menu where we had 3 courses for £20 which excludes drinks and extras. The quality of the food and the presentation were both really good and we really couldnât fault anything. One of the best meals weâve had as a group of 6. You wonât be disappointed.

We took our French friends to dinner to experience a quality English restaurant.I was not let down. The food service team provided a caring and attentive service. The kitchen team demonstrated their creative culinary skills with food that was perfectly presented at good temperatures, full of delicious flavours, textures and blends of interesting ingredients, all at reasonable prices. The highlight for me was the sea trout which was absolutely right on the point of being perfectly cooked with wonderful flavours. Well done!

The River Bar Steakhouse and Grill, with its cavernous loft-like vibe, quayside location and creative crowd, has become one of Cambridge's premier restaurants. Located close to the bustling town centre, in a riverside spot opposite Magdalene College, The

After reading some excellent food reviews at The Clarendon Arms, I knew I had to visit and definitely wasn't disappointed! I experienced swift table service, friendly bar staff, a cosy pub environment and, importantly, great food!I ordered the spicy beef chilli con carbs which was served with crisp fried potato skins, sour cream and chives, guacamole and extra mature cheddar. It was terrific! I also requested a few extra chillis be thrown in for good measure and the chef kindly obliged! Great heat from the chilli and the potatoes were delightfully crispy too.Towards the end of our meal, we were asked to move tables so to allow a last-minute reservation to sit where we were. Whilst we weren't hurried, another table had been prepared for us and the staff kindly asked us if it was okay to move across. We were more than happy to after we were told we'd be compensated with two pints on the house! A courteous offer well received! This polite service, goodwill gesture, great food and overall satisfying experience made for a super visit to The Clarendon Arms and I'll be happy to offer them repeat business in return!

Visited Cotto to celebrate our 57th Wedding Anniversary and both being born in Cambridge, had memories of the Gonville Hotel. The addition of Cotto, with its glass extension is a pleasant addition. Whilst serving our pre dinner drinks, the barman enquired whether we had a reservation. Once seated we were presented with the menus, plus canapés. Our table by the window was excellent as was the meal and wine, served by attentive staff. Our meal was concluded with a presentation of a decorated plate of chocolates, with a suitable inscription for our 57th year together. No hesitation in recommending.

The steaks were cooked to perfection. Table games to play while waiting for food (although this wasn't long to wait) Reasonably priced but you get a lot for your money. Saw many plates with food left over on empty tables, we just about managed to finish all our food.Would definitely eat here again if we came back to Cambridge to sample some of the other dishes.

Independent Cambridge eatery. Straightforward, unfussy menu is far from ordinary, hot roast meat sandwiches top the bill, alongside poutine and salads all cooked on-site with the best of ingredients, ethically and locally sourced. A relaxed atmosphere awa
OH and I had a stunningly tasty and mouthwatering lunch. This place has a limited and well-designed menu, which it does to perfection. We had beef brisket poutine, which means slow cooked meat with amazing home-made gravy, over unpasteurised cheese curds (melty and yummy) on chips. We had jalapeno peppers on the side. Portions were generous and the meal absolutely delicious. You can have your choice of meat served in this manner, or on a warm sourdough ciabatta (these looked awesome) or in a bowl with some nice veg and wedges. I think we chose wisely, as the combo of gravy and cheese and chips has to be sampled to be believed. We did feel a teensy bit sorry for the eating place opposite, which was steadfastly empty throughout our visit. It must be hard for them!

We had lunch here last week, the first time weâve eaten at this restaurant. We chose the seven course tasting menu plus wine pairings and were frankly blown away by the experience, the food was faultless both in terms of flavour combinations and presentation. The staff were equally impressive, young and enthusiastic but thoroughly professional. We particularly enjoyed our conversations with the sommelier as he presented us with our wine pairings which all matched their respective courses perfectly.I canât remember when we were more impressed when eating at a restaurant for the first time and weâll definitely be back in the near future.
