I booked a table at Monteaths to meet friends for an âearlyâ Xmas lunch on Sunday 2 December. We were not residents and had been in the premises before. When we arrived we were offered the option of a table in the actual restaurant or the bar area where a fire was on and another family were eating lunch. We opted for the bar area. The waitress who meet us was very friendly. However from there on in the experience went down hill. The service was poor after 2 hours we still had not ordered a dessert or coffee etc despite asking to do so. In that period the bar area became busy and the barman decided to put the TV on which was virtually next to us. In fairness the volume was was switched âoffâ however suffice to say that changed after our â2 hourâ experience and that was really the final straw. The quality of the food was also poor and after complaining about the TV we were offered a table in the actual restaurant- well what a surprise the place was totally empty - what great festive cheer. We decided enough was enough and left.I didnât book lunch to eat in what was nothing more than a sportâs bar if we had known what was ahead of us we would of opted for the actual restaurant but in saying that who wants to sit in an empty restaurant. We will definitely never ever be back!!

Tuck into the finest Franco-Scottish cuisine and soak up the glamorous buzz of a bygone era in the newly-refurbished Strathearn restaurant. Representing Scotland at its best â its heritage, history and beauty â The Strathearn experience is like going to t
This is the flagship restaurant at Gleneagles and is beautifully appointed and has been refurbished to a very high standard. The menu is varied and costs £85 per head for three courses. Side dishes are £6 per dish and some dishes carry an additional surcharge. The food was exceptional and there was plenty of theatre in the room especially when certain dishes were flambéed.The smoked salmon starter was delicious and beautifully presented and I recommend the aged Sirloin steak. My husband enjoyed the famed Clootie dumpling and this dish provided entertainment as it was cooked at the table. The wine list was comprehensive, however was very expensive.our bill for two was £290 and included a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, a Gin and Tonic and a glass of Ruinart pink Champagne.I will add that we were surprised not to receive an amousch bouche to start with.In short Iâd describe the atmosphere and ambience, service and food outstanding.Thank you for taking the time to share your beautiful dinner experience in The Strathearn. I am delighted that you enjoyed so many aspects of your visit.I will certainly share your feedback with all of our team and we look forward in welcoming you back in the future.

The visit was tinged with a little sadness due to Andrew's death earlier in the year. The staff have, quite clearly, determined to maintain all of the standards that he set them and it's no surprise that they've maintained their rating. As ever the staff are insightful and describe the food and wine with an insight, knowlege and enthusiasm that is very impressive. The food is superb and the whole experience is liesurely and relaxed - no hint of being rushed or pressured. As ever we enjoyed the four course a la carte menu - but the range of choice is impressive. On the evening of our visit the restaurant was busy and the atmosphere and ambience was exciting and vibrant. Another fabulous experience and one we'll enjoy again next year.

Max & Ben's Bistro is open 7 days. Monday-Friday from 12pm-2pm & 5pm-9pm and then open all day Saturday & Sunday from 12pm-9pm. Great food served in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.
Smaller than expected, however nice atmosphere.Starters were a disappointment as not what you would expect more pub grub. Pork belly was not pork belly with the rest of the dish being black pudding which was dry and burnt, Thai fish cakes a bit processed with not a huge amount of taste, saved only by the chilli dipping sauce. However, main meal was excellent, juicy steaks cooked to perfection. Great sauce and accompanying foods with a king prawn skewer to share setting it off. Wine was good as was the pudding and liquors. Only other feedback would be felt a bit rushed by the waiting staff to get in and ordered and out again.

After having a disastrous meal at another local restaurant last week while on holiday in Auchterarder, we did a google search for top restaurants in the area and came across Jon and Fernandas... so glad we did. From the moment we stepped inside until we left at the end of the evening, every need was attended to by Fernandas and her waiting staff. Every course was delicious and plentiful and Jon came out of the kitchen at the end of the evening and spoke to the clients still at their tables, a lovely and professional touch. We are only sorry we didnât discover you earlier in the week. Would highly recommend Wow!! a "smiley face" at the end.......Thanks for finding us and more so enjoying your visit when you did.We really do make a big effort across the whole team and reading your review definitely leaves us with a smiley face too. I don't always manage out to the tables but rest assured if i can i will.It would be lovely to welcome you back very soon.Kindest RegardsJon and Fernanda
