Never again. Extremely disappointing.Lacklustre service, mistakes on orders and poorly cooked food.1. French fries were ordered instead of the chips, chips arrived. No big deal as was just a preference of guest, so didnât complain.2. Duck breast was poorly cooked. The skin was brown but soft and flabby, the flesh except in the very middle was chewy, dry and hard to cut even with a steak knife. It appeared to have been partially cooked prior to service and warmed through? Donât think it could have been worse if it had been in a microwave.3. A chocolate brownie was ordered with a different flavour ice cream, it was served with the original liquorice ice cream. This was meant to have been a special evening for my guests to say thank you. Not wanting to make a big fuss I went to the bar and quietly spoke to the waitress about the duck, she said she would tell the chef. I returned to the table to find one of my guests struggling to cut his duck, he didnât complain because he was being polite. I then returned to bar with my plate, was offered something else but declined as everyone was halfway through their meal. The manager offered to deduct the duck from the bill and to offer two free desserts. Three desserts were ordered, including cheese and biscuits. One dessert was fine, the cheese and biscuits were really good but the waitress couldnât tell us what the white cheese was and had to ask!!! It was Lancashire (as it said on menu), wanted to know specifically where from, a local farm, a supermarket???? Then found wrong ice cream on chocolate brownie. The mistake had been noticed in kitchen as a waitress rushed in with the correct ice cream just as my guest was about to put a spoonful in her mouth. Fortunately, it was not an allergy issue.Thank you to the manager for the deductions from the bill but the evening was ruined. My guests were upset because they had been told Number 17 was good. I was upset because I wanted to give them a memorable meal. It was but for all the wrong reasons.I do understand mistakes happen. So many in one meal is totally unacceptable. Think staff training should be looked at, only the manager seemed at all interested. Staff need to be briefed on ingredients, customer care etc. Final point if I were the chef I would have personally apologised.

A traditional village inn offering award-winning real ales, a good selection of wines and keg beers. The reputation of the food is well known and caters for most tastes.
We ate here with friends during a really busy week for the pub. They happily fitted us in even though we booked late. The service was impeccable. Polite and attentive but not too fussy. The food was outstanding. We only live locally and will definitely be back again. Can highly recommend a visit!

My son visits here frequently with his cycling pals & said it was the best cafe for miles, so thought weâd have a little jaunt there ourselves. The tea room is wonderfully inviting, low ceiling, comfy chairs & cosy atmosphere. I spotted the last, lone cheese scone as I sat down & prayed that no one would get to it first. It must have been my lucky day as I got the prized scone! It had been gently warmed & was served with soft butter, cheese & chutney. My pet hate is cafes that serve dense, cold scones with a packet of rock hard butter. Needless to say this one was light and full of flavour. Husband & son ordered panini, which looked gorgeous & tasted gorgeous too apparently. They were also accompanied by crisps & salad. We all had coffee, which again was delicious. I especially enjoyed the delicate heart-shape biscuit which accompanied the coffee - nice touch. The men couldnât resist a cake & both plumped for carrot cake, which they declared was very tasty. The service was excellent too. A winning combination & a place Iâll definitely return to.

The Ship Inn is located on the B5282 in between Milnthorpe and Arnside, with spectacular views over the Kent estuary. On clear days you can savour the views of the Lake District fells and valleys of the Langdales and Coniston Old Man from the Ship Inn.

The Estuary is a relaxed neighbourhood bistro and bar in the charming Edwardian town of Grange-over-Sands, Cumbria. Overlooking the estuary (hence the name) and with views out to Morecambe Bay. The Estuary serves locally sourced coffee, creative brunches,
On the final day of our trip to the Lakes we decided to visit Cartmel & Grange over Sands. We found ourselves parked outside The Estuary in Grange. We have a large greyhound who takes up a lot of space so I checked inside to see if we & she could be accommodated for lunch. âYes of courseâ they said & a wonderful lunch began! We went for the set lunch menu - £12 for 2 courses & we can only say - fab!! We both had squid to start which was delicious & chicken in a mushroom sauce with mash & pak Choi - the portion of chicken breast was huge & succulent & the sauce divine! Excellent value lunch! And finally the staff - very friendly, super efficient & so very welcoming! A bowl of water was provided for our dog & a treat for her soon followed plus lots of cuddles! All I can say is if you visit Grange this place is a must! The dinner menu looks fab & if itâs anything like the quality of the food served at lunch youâll be in for a treat!Thank you for such a lovely review of your recent visit to The Estuary. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your lunch with us, and were able to take advantage of our 2 for £12 set menu. Thank you also for your fantastic comments regarding our friendly staff and our food, which we will be sure to pass on to our team. It's also great to hear that your greyhound was also made to feel welcome: we always enjoy seeing our four legged friends!Thank you again: we hope to welcome you back to The Estuary should you return to visit the area, perhaps to try our dinner menu.

after a very difficult day whilst up in Arnside, I found a lovely place to chill out on the Promenade. It was a glorious day, despite a rather stressful morning, but found the welcome and the tea a prefect way to lift my mood.It double as a gift shop, so if you don't mind people standing next to your table browsing. I recommend a visit.

Fantastic location in the Village of Arnside on the banks of the Kent Estuary with stunning views and sunsets across the Lakeland Hills. We have a large external seating area, ideal for watching the famous "Bore" and looking over the fells. Traditional Bri
Having previously given The Albion 5 stars I was looking forward to our lunch there. Perhaps I expected too much but I found the food rather disappointing. The mushroom risotto was bland and reminded me of porridge. There was a distinct lack of mushrooms and, even after adding salt, it lacked seasoning. The rustic chips were nicely cooked but the 'fries' were hardly cooked at all. Even after returning them we were given another serving that were only marginally better.Great shame but hope this was just a one off as the pub has pleasant staff and a nice atmosphere - and stunning views of the estuary.

Visited the hotel twice whilst staying locally at Gibraltar Farm campsite and eat both nights. Thefood was very good and there was plenty of it, the beer was superb and the staff very welcoming and friendly. It is also a dog friendly pub, with dogs welcome everywhere except the conservatory.

Had this place recommended by a friend who had visited the area and so decided to visit too.Lovely resturant, overlooking the water. Friendly staff and good service. The food is all home produced, with fish dishes being the speciality. Ordered one of the specials, which was hake in a prawn and wine sauce. It came with a selection of fresh veg and new potatoes. It was delicious!Really lovely place and would highly recommend.
