We are a fine dining restaurant situated in the heart of Bideford, using fresh local produce to create fun and exciting dishes with an ever changing menu. We are a young couple who are enthusiastic and passionate about what we do.
With great fortune we secured the last table at Number 8 for our only free night in Bideford. We have spent many years travelling the globe with our jobs and also as tourists and have eaten some remarkable meals in wonderful restaurants and our meal at Number 8 was certainly right up there at the top. Chef Josh has such creativity, finesse and attention to detail that brings out the best in the fine local produce he uses to create his culinary masterpieces. Not a morsel was left on any of the plates we were served. Claire ran the restaurant with charm and grace and was the perfect engaging hostess while still being totally professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at their restaurant and are very keen to return when next in Bideford. We are sad we live several hours drive away from this hidden gem, otherwise we'd be back next week.

Found this place on Trip Advisor and loved it. Beautiful setting and presented to a very high standard inside and out.Staff were lovely, great choice of food, good value and well kept beers. We all enjoyed our meals though servings are big so good job we didnât go for starters, only one of us could fit in pudding and the sorbet was lovely. Will definitely be back when in the area again. And very dog friendly!

Quayside Inn with bar, restaurant and 17 letting rooms. Lovely views across the Torridge estuary towards Instow, outside seating and small car park, situated in Appledore, a lovely quaint fishing village in the heart of North Devon.
We stopped at their Quay location in a first floor suite. The room was first class and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice each day. Most of the staff were really helpful. Compared with last year we thought the dinner menu was not quite as good with a lack of specials especially fish. Room prices have now increased but we still thought it was good value and well located in Book Festival week.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review Dave, I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay in one of our fantastic Quay suites. Although our menu is slightly smaller we still aim to offer food of a high standard, using quality locally sourced ingredients and suppliers. Please visit our website to view our 'winter breaks' deal available from Oct 28th-March 31st.We hope to see you again,Kind regardsChelsea

Having not been before we wanted to try their Sunday roast. We sat upstairs in the window seat on a sunny afternoon which was picture perfect. The Lamb and Vegetarian roast was superb and one of the best weâve ever eaten. The staff were helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the whole experience - highly recommended.

Whenever we are in North Devon we try to book a table at Memories - our favourite restaurant. I say âwe tryâ because the secret is out and tables can be hard to get without forward planning. But on this occasion we were lucky and snapped up the last table with 24 hours notice. As always Brett prepared a meal which was absolutely delicious and fantastic value for money. But it is not just the food that makes this our destination of choice, Naomi provides the best service, always attentive and friendly. This successful combination is the reason why Memories has gone from strength to strength over the past 20 years. We really enjoy our food and travel a lot. Memories is always our yardstick against which other restaurants are compared. At this time it is only open 3 evenings a week which goes to show that a top chef and great management can result in a good family life and a successful business. Weâll be going back soon. Suggest you try it for yourselves - if you can get in!

I really can't praise this restaurant enough. Our party of 10 received a very warm welcome (from Caroline, I believe) who sat us in a most beautiful room, a bit like sitting in a friend's sitting room. We were given a welcoming cocktail and small welcoming bites which we all loved, followed by our starters. we were all looking at each other in shear delight at the wonderful tasting food, it's a bit pointless describing what they were as I believe they constantly change, nobody was disappointed. Then onto some of the best cooked mains we've had anywhere. Again, not a disappointment anywhere, we all loved the food. The pear tarte that followed, well, the best I've ever had!! Our party was to celebrate a 70th birthday, we all left knowing we'd chosen well and we will go back some day soon when are in the area. Prices are modest for the quality on offer, it doesn't get better than this, our thanks to Instow Barton

We go to the beaver on a regular basis as we are lucky to have a house in the village. Have not written a review for a few years now so time for an update. Itâs a great local with friendly staff with always a good atmosphere. The food has been fantastic on our last few visits and it is always consistently good. The skate wing and blackened salmon with noodles we had last night was top notch.

After an extensive refurbishment under taken by its new owners. The Royal George has finally reopened. You are warmly invited to come visit our waterside pub that serves delicious food with fantastic views.
I am lucky enough to live in Appledore and visit the Royal George weekly. Everyday their menu changes, (they only serve free range or organic locally sourced meat. I canât think of another place nearby that does that). The staff are always friendly, the decor is Nice and the view is breathtaking. The latest menu is the best yet. I am so pleased that I only have to walk five minutes to enjoy their food. On this occasion I invited my parents and my friends for a birthday lunch. We had to preorder which was easy to do. We arrived a bit early and the staff allowed us to bring a cake, balloons and table decorations. We enjoyed some drinks until the food arrived. All of it was perfect, my friends and family were very happy and I had a very relaxed birthday party. I could not recommend this venue enough. Thanks very much to the staff at the Royal George!

Called in here with my partner on the way to Exeter after a weekend in Bude. As it was raining, the cafe was very busy. The place was very clean and the service was very good. We enjoyed the coffee and cake, but would have enjoyed it more without the smell of the wet dog on the table next to us and the dogs at 3 more tables. ! I am an animal lover but feel that food establishments are not the sort of places I like to see them.

The Flame Factory brings wood fired pizza, flame grilled burgers and rare bred Clovelly Longhorn steaks to the historic Appledore quay side Hello from the Flame Factory, we're not trying to be big; we're only in Appledore - family owned and run by Jayne,
Restaurant looks really nice and comfortable. We went in for a family evening meal but turned away despite there being a number of empty tables. Decided to order 3 takeaway pizzas instead. Incredibly overpriced, 2 of the pizzas were dripping with grease, base of pizza box was saturated in oil, meat feast and BBQ chicken. Don't appear to use mozzarella, rather cheddar cheese as a topping. For £34 for 3 takeaway pizzas, you would expect better quality.
