Oak Room Restaurant In the evening, you can choose from the wide range of imaginative and mouth-watering individually priced dishes on the menu in this 1 rosette (AA) restaurant . The freshest ingredients are used, carefully selected from local suppliers
Ate here whilst staying in the hotel and the food is delicious.Well presented using the finest ingredients and cooked to perfection. This is not a pile it high kind of establishment so don't expect belly busting portions and gravy dripping off the edge of the plate. Its fine dining at its best. The menu is not excessive but there is ample choice and each dish sounds and looks beautiful. There was a leaning towards game when we ate here which is fine by me as I love it. I was not disappointed. The pigeon and duck I had was perfectly cooked.Top marks for the chef and equally fine service from the waiting team.

Arron & Carolyn welcome you to the New Inn at Hoff, serving traditional English food, wines & cask ales.
Called in for a Sunday lunch, pub old and quaint. We had lamb shank which itself was well cooked but very small, the carrot and turnip had a very odd taste, the rest of the vegetables were in one dish and consisted of slices of raw carrot, yellowing broccoli, bits of leek and bits of courgette with lots of water in the bottom. Over priced for the small portion. Was disappointed to see the cook carrying a dog around then return to the kitchen. Felt the whole place would benefit from a good clean. The sheer level of five star reviews on the New Inn speak for themselves. Anybody who has ever been near the place knows the mere suggestion it needs a clean is utterly preposterous.

We visited yesterday for our anniversary having seen so many glowing reviews on Trip Adviser. The lounge bar was really nice with very friendly staff. Bitter was very good as was cider. We ordered chicken pate and chicken satay as starters and for mains we had rump steak and a burger. The pate was very nice. The satay wasn't. It appeared to be pieces of cold steamed chicken on skewers with a little bit of thick satay sauce squeezed on top. Not surprisingly it tasted bland. It came with spiced slaw which turned out to be a small portion of normal coleslaw. The burger was nice. The burger itself was unremarkable but the dish overall was pretty and tasty. The rump steak was underdone and very fatty but it was tender and tasty. We were sitting next to the kitchen door and I couldn't help but overhear one of the chefs having a laugh with our waitress about how their customers will eat anything! In summary, we expected better. It's reasonable pub food but wont be rushing back.

Absolutely superb place, brilliant food presented so well and good value.Staff are ace, completely full when we arrived, weather stairrods but they found us a place, wonderful.but spoilt by an elderly couple making a family move from the children's play section where their table was located.they said that is the table we reserved but could have sat elsewhere. So children had to move.Thought this was pretty poor still would visit any time in ApplebyHi there thank you so much for taking the time to write such kind words. I'm really sorry about the table debacle it was a faulty towers moment indeed but I think everyone was happy in the end. we will endeavour to make your next visit less eventful! :) do come back and visit us soon.

We just wanted a quick coffee and cake but we obviously chose the wrong day/time. It was nearly full when we arrived so it took some time before they took our order. We ordered coffees with an extra shot but got one less shot than normal instead! One drink was missed off altogether. We couldn't face waiting any longer so just made do. A couple that came in after us got 2 full cooked breakfasts faster than we got our coffee and cakes so maybe we ordered the wrong thing? I'm guessing from the other reviews that we were just unlucky with our timing so might try another time. Shame because we prefer to support independents instead of the chains.

We drove past here (The Grapes) and noticed they served sunday lunch so decided to give it a try. It exceeded all expectations. The Steak House is beautifully furnished to a really high standard. The quality of the food was exceptional... the beef literally fell apart in your mouth. The vegetables were cooked to perfection and there was plenty of choice. The staff were really friendly and the service was excellent. Cannot speak highly enough about this place.
