Staff and residents were friendly and inviting, had soup starter nice but comes with B&b from sliced loaf, steak n ale pie n mash. Pie was boiling!!! Very nice though and filling, had some kind of pastry crisps on top of mine which looked nice but sadly tasted burnt. Did eat it all though as I was starving.Would go again, would eat again, barmaid very nice, friendly & down to earth.

In Front Of The Jane Austen's House
Such a shame, directly opposite Jane Austens house this should be a goldmine. It looks a lovely place but we found the service very slow with a disinterested waitress and very average food.Hopefully we went on an off day, if not I have little hope for the future of the place.

The Departure Lounge Cafe is a lovely cafe/restaurant situated on the outskirts of Alton in Hampshire on the A339 to Basingstoke. Our unique setting offers beautiful countryside views.
We were lucky enough to have our wedding at The Departure Lounge Cafe. Itâs such a gorgeous vintage-style cafe and when we visited it for the first time, and saw the huge beautiful field next to it, we knew this is where we would get married. Simon and his team are incredible. He went above and beyond our expectations in making sure our big day was perfect. He was so helpful in the planning beforehand, and extremely responsive to all of our enquiries. Simon and his team made sure the day ran smoothly. He even sourced some local beer for our guests, which went down a treat! Itâs the perfect place if you want to put your own stamp on your big day. We wanted a relaxed, festival-style wedding and thatâs exactly what we got! We had a ceremony in the field (after legally marrying in a reg office) - but it looked and felt like the real deal! We brought in our own caterers (wood-fired pizza!) and a band, loads of DIY decorations, hay bales and lots of wild flowers. Nothing was a problem and they helped us to set it up and pack things away, which made things so much easier. All of our guests commented on what an amazing venue we had chosen, and it was lovely to see all of our family and friends of mixed ages having the best time. Thank you everyone at the cafe for all of your hard work. We would highly recommend The Departure Lounge Cafe, especially for weddings. We will be smiling for years to come!

TripAdvisor Review Nov 02, 2014: 'This is a gem of a small pub. What the owners have done is so obvious and apparently simple, that you can't but help wonder why more don't do it. Make the place homely, relaxed and inviting. Get a professional in the kitc
Lunch for four three of us had the locally made mistrust steak and ale pies which were very good full of flavour and good shortcrust pastry. The burger was also excellent the thick cut chips were really scrumptious. Service was very good.

Hidden away down a little lane on the edge of Bentworth Village in Hampshire, The Sun Inn is a very pretty, flower-adorned and unspoilt rural free-house dating back to the 16th century. Brick and board floors are laid with a rustic mix of scrubbed pine ta

This Pub could be good but the landlord has zero people skills.Customers spend serious money and they expect to be treated reasonably. You get the impression that you are an inconvenience and the customer service from the landlord is poor at best.Food is OK not exceptional. It could be a much better customer experience if the landlord had a significantly better attitude. Based on that we will not return, although we have visited more than once. What a shame it could be good however but "he" needs to change or not be front of house.
