Mill House Brewing Company opened in the Fall of 2013. For us, it is the culmination of years of professional culinary/hospitality experience, expressive design and construction, and craft beer artistry. Located in the rehabilitated Mill House, Mill House
When I see a brew pub, I typically assume that the food will be passable pub fare. Burgers, fries, a token salad or two. This place shattered my expectations! The menu was ecclectic, yet balanced. Truffle arancini. Charcuterie. Burgers and salads that sounded creative and appetizing. Unlike many restaurants that try to be original, but instead cram too much into a dish, the creativity here was perfect. If you want a chicken sandwich, you don't have to say "hold the avocado, radishes, and kiwi/porcinini mushroom aeoli please." Instead, everything sounded harmonious, yet, fresh and original. The pork schnitzel deserves its own paragraph. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. Amazing mustard-crea-au jus sauce, but not smothered in it. Mustard spaetzel that has ruined me for all other spaetzel. And red cabbage that was so delicious it could have been a dish all its own!I live about an hour and 20 min from this place, and I'm already thinking of when I can return!Oh, and the beer was excellent, too!

Iâve learned not to expect much in the way of food at pubs and breweries, but Blue Collar Brewery was a nice surprise. Good beer and good burgersâI canât ask for more. Service was reasonably good even though our server was alone and taking care of at least six tables and wearing the hostess hat. They offer parking which is a nice perk.
We'd heard about this place when it first opened, and finally used a visit from one of our adult children as a reason to explore this new brewery. What a delightful find! We arrived as they opened at 2 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon, and over the course of the next two hours more people arrived so that it felt quite festive. The beer menu is surprisingly extensive. We each enjoyed a couple of beers, choosing the Scooters and Frogs red Kolsch (delightful), the Simcoe Mist (so good we bought a four-pack to take home), an All Night session, the El Dorado double IPA, and the Yourberry, a "juicy New England IPA." All were delightful! The setting is very comfortable; we enjoyed the first round sitting on the back patio on the first warm day of spring, then moved inside to a small seating area with comfortable couches; there is ample bar space and counters and tables along the wall. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the noise level quite low so we had no trouble conversing. This is a great addition to the downtown Poughkeepsie area, which is revitalizing at a brisk pace. I highly recommend Kings Court; it's one of the best local breweries, and conveniently located (parking across the street, and perhaps a 1/2 mile walk from the train station for those coming up from the city for the day).
