Best known as the birthplace of St. Francis, Italy's patron saint, Assisi lies amid Umbria's rolling hills. Religious pilgrims have come here for centuries to visit the Basilica of San Francesco (where St. Francis is buried) and the Basilica of Santa Chiara (to see the tomb of St. Clare). Visit the Eremo delle Carceri to see caves where medieval hermits withdrew from the world. (You may find such solitude quite appealing—especially if you're here on a daytrip from Rome!)

After two weeks of pasta and pizza in Italy we needed a break and umami said they had micro brews and burgers. They are right near the edge of town and easy to access. Parking on site and across the street. We arrived around 7:40 pm on a Sunday and were seated anywhere we wanted. Even though we speak some Italian the servers spoke English and were very polite and considerate. They have 8-9 beers on tap from blondes, triple ipaâs, lagers and a coffee stout. Also have dozens of beers in bottle as well as mixed drinks. Burgers are original and come in stuffed or unstuffed categories w/ bun or without. I had a double ipa and it wasnât too hoppy. Very good. Burger was enormous and delicious. The co-owner, Luca, checked in on us a couples times. Heâs very nice and appreciative of your business. We watched him help with orders, bussing tables, seating people, but most of all he interacted with guests smiling and making sure they were ok. Loved this place and highly recommend. We would like to thank you for writing such a detailed review. You will be our very welcomed guests next time you come to Assisi :)

There are some nice restaurants in Assisi, but most of the places offering snacks or light meals look tacky and unattractive so we were very pleased to find this little place. The owner was friendly and helpful and the room was lined with old cupboards and dressers all painted in a light blue, while the stools and tables were of plain unvarnished wood. A variety of local wines were stacked on shelves and also in an old disused fridge and wines were available for tasting. Simple snacks were on offer and we had Torta di Testa, a local type of flatbread, stuffed with cheese and freshly sliced prosciutto and then heated. We all agreed this was delicious.

This small resturant is run by young people, the food is a mix of hamburgers and more traditional foods. We had lunch there, gnocchi and pasta both were very tasty. We returned for dinner and had hamburgers again great food. They also serve local beers.Recommended.
