If you are in a hurry: this "kilo" restaurant will do..........the buffet is not praticularly rich, but has a a reasonable variety of salads, fruits, sweets and plenty of local food. It has also some barbecue meat. If you are not familiar with the local food, sometimes it is difficult to choose what to put in your dish......The place is a bit dark & the tables are one very close to the other.

Great typical mineiro food. Most of the plates are priced and big enough for 3 people. My favorite is arroz loulena, angu serenada, and the file parmigiana. Really, every thing on the menu is delicious. I just suggest you don't order the lasagna, it's the only dish I was ever disappointed with.Great outside atmosphere, sometimes food takes awhile to arrive so you should always order a beer and relax. My favorite place to eat in diamantina! Also, if you just want to hangout order a tabua. It's basically a hot plate with grilled meats and french fries or macaxeira fries on top! Great food and big enough for a group of at least 4 people. I've eaten it with as many as 8 people.

Unless you're staying at the pousada, I wouldn't make the effort to eat here. The traditional mineira food served during the lunch buffet was pretty normal, but over-priced for the quality in my opinion. Frango a quiabo (chicken and okra) and frango ao molho pardo (chicken in a blood sauce) were served that day. I've heard really great things about the restaurant, so it's very likely that the a la carte menu is better. I really did enjoy the dessert area, especially the homemade dolce de leite. But, if you want to try traditional food from the region, another restaurante closer to the center of the city would be better quality for the price of R$55 a person.

Neste restaurante experimentei um excelente frango com ora-pro-nóbis. Porção generosa, a meia porção dá para duas pessoas. O atendimento é simples, mas bom. Come-se na meses em baixo de árvores.

For a snack or a quick meal, anytime, they open long hours, except on Sundays: this is the place! The place is very cosy: a café in a bookstore! They have small & big wooden tables, all surrounded by bookselves. A great varity of drinks, coffees, teas, & soft drinks. The brownie & the petit gateau are delicious. The have also bowls of soup, pizzas, pastas & sandwiches. The service is very attentive, though a bit slow for those used to big cities. You can stay there for hours reading a book and sipping your tea/coffee. A great place to take a pause in the very heart of Diamantina!

This is the best "kilo" restaurant in town! It stays on the first floor of one of those old houses, on top of a pharmacy/drugstore (!!!), facing the main square of the Mercado dos Tropeiros. You cannot see it! The view from the tables by the windows is great! The food has a great variety: salads, meat, fish, typical local dishes, fruits, sweets and even a very good local "cachaça", "cafezinho" & teas. All on a basis help yourself, passing by the scale after you made your choice of food. The little glass of "cachaça", "cafezinho" & teas are free.

Relicario Gastronomia is a fine restaurant located in the main square of Diamantina, behind the Old Market. Relicario offers contemporary cuisine developed from prime ingredients, some of them own-cultivated. Result from the union of Rachel Palhares and T
Interesting place close to the main square with retro decoration and interesting menu. Ask for the artisanal beer menu and try some delicious snacks. The executive chef is very simpatic lady always present in the restaurant and recommending the best from the menu.
