I have visited the Brasserie de l'Alliance in Waterloo, Belgium. The alliance referred to in the name is the group of countries that fought Napoleon in his last battle at Waterloo. Here the Napoleonic era finally ended. This is an excellent restaurant that suffers from ups and downs. I have eaten very well there most of the time but not always. This time it was very good. Fast service, and tasty food (I had a steamed fish dish with steamed potatoes - NOT fries). The fish was steamed to perfection, moist and steamy. The steamed potato was soft and creamy. And the service was fast and efficient.

Situated in a pedestrian side street near Waterloo centre, this nice Brasserie can be overlooked. They serve very good standard French / Belgian fare, with fresh ingredients and good presentation. Has some outside tables although a little shaded, and has a good cosy atmosphere in winter. My 'go to' place, when I'm looking for a relaxed evening meal.

Restaurant located in a quiet and new area of Waterloo, enough parking.As you enter the restaurant you see a large space, it is modern and refined. I was dissapointed about the service and the food. We were 2 people for lunch.First of all, we order an appetizer to share; as the dish came, instead of having another plate, the dish containing the appetizer was set in the middle of the table, so each of us ate it form the same plate, not very elegant and/or classy for a well known restaurant.The chicken vol au vent was not tasty, the chicken was completely cold, big pieces and some of the meat was still uncooked. Service very average and slow. High prices for the poor quality of the food and service

I dined there today for first time with my wife. The two brothers who own it were serving and are very friendly and explained how the concept works. The menu is very unique and offers a wide range of burgers in beef, chicken, lamb or vegetarian. Of course there are lots of different side orders and they have their own house sauce which was nice. I noticed there was a lot of good beer choices in the fridge. The interior is a modern aesthetically pleasing, light and airy. There is also an outdoor area for 8 people. Space between the tables is very good, so you have good privacy.The prices are good 10-12⬠for a burger, 3⬠for fries and 2⬠for a drink.We will visit again.

Surprising little twists on French classics and inventive approaches to old favorites; I sampled the delicious, crispy 'ris de veau', one of the small selection of specials, while my wife enjoyed a succulent steak from the standard menu. Nice, friendly atmosphere too and a good wine-list. A few unusual wines at decent prices so overall, this is what my friends would call a 'Geheim Tip'. Highly recommendable.

The menu is varied and not just pasta although they do that extremely well! There is a large selection of dishes and all those I've sampled have always been well cooked and very tasty including some excellent combinations of ingredients. Don't know about this town, if you don't make a reservation, you won't be able to eat in the highest rated restaurants. This is the case here. I got in because I stayed in the hotel and can finish before 8. Really good food, and worth the trouble. Three course for 35 euros. See the pictures.

The staff was friendly and the presentation of the food was fantastic. However, I wasn't that impressed with the quality of seafood and a friend got sick the next day after having eaten the Wolffish. Paying close to 25+ euros per main would demand a little more in terms of quality. I went here simply to try the number one rated restaurant in Waterloo.I was initially worried as the entrance via a nondescript car park doesn't make it look too appealing, but inside it's nice.The staff were friendly and the food was good, but in all honesty, I can't say that this is the best restaurant in Waterloo - it's good, but not the best!Some other little things, I was regularly ignored when trying to order dessert, and it took me some time to order it.Worth a try though.
