Village bistro just in front of the church/main square. Open all day long, which is great for a late bite. Nothing spectacular, but friendly stuff. Offers an ordinary selection of 3 or 4 soups, 3 or 4 pasta dishes, some salads and some (frozen and microwaved) main dishes. This didn't bother us, we were just happy to find a place which is open throughout the afternoon to serve us a hot lunch after our long walk.

It was Veterans Day 2014, November 11, and after having visited the American Military Cemetery in Belgium at Henri-Chapelle - a memorable experience - we next drove to the small neighboring town of Aubel - to feed our bodies, we thought, at one or the other good local restaurant. Oh, yes, a few restaurants, brasseries in Aubel looked quite inviting from the outside but, in Belgium, the rule appears to be that restaurants close after lunch and open again only at 06 PM. We hence decided to drive on to nearby Visé, and which has the distinction of being the most northern French-speaking town in Europe... Pretty city center Visé, but again all the proper restaurants closed until 06 PM. Well, we decided to wait, try one of the cozy cafés around the local Grand Place (town square)... November can already turn out pretty chilly in this part of Belgium; nevertheless, the various café terraces around the town square were full of huddled couples, chucking a late afternoon, early evening beer... We did the same at the Café Le Rallye, sitting at a tight table, checking out the locals who in turn checked out the foreign birds in their midst. Nothing bad to be said about this place. The beer was Belgian good. We had to pay for the cheese bits extra. Finally, at 06 PM sharp, Chez Adam, across from Café Le Rallye opened up. Cozy interior, well-heated for the season, but I had come primarily for the "Moules-frites" - moules or mussels - with fries, a popular main dish as of September, October in Belgium. My friend, less of a "moules" friend, instead, opted for another local favorite: "Boulets à la Liégeoise", meatballs with a thick spicy meat sauce, and also with generous servings of French Fries, which actually should be renamed Belgian fries, because they taste much better in Belgium. Fresh salads complemented the long anticipated dinner feast. The house white wines we tried, a chilled Chablis, can be highly recommended as well. Remember this used to be a "Friterie" - a fries place - and fries are still sold at a heavily attended side-window, away from the view of the main dining room. Service was excellent in our case, possibly also because we were the first visitors to walk through the door that Tuesday evening. Finally, also considering these were popular local dishes, prices turned out reasonable too.

Well, this wants to be a luxury restaurant, so be prepared to pay the prize. Serving only set menus, no "a la carte", which came as a bit of surprise for us. They have two menu options one for 37 and 50 euros, aperitives for around 10(I didn't take a look on wine menu so I can't tell the prices). The food was allright, its only minus : the main course(fish dish like "sole meuniere") was far too salty. I really loved the desert skillfully reinvented "crepe suzette". The decoration of the restaurant and the views (+terrace) are worth it. Moreover, the staff was EXTREMELY friendly and comprehensive. So all this created a great atmosphere that compensated for the quite average main course. For all what you get, the price is acceptable without being exaggerated.

I was there with my 3 kids. Very friendly man, good chise (basic but good), quality of the food was very good and it was cheap at the same time. So value for money.Worth goiing there, no hoaute cuisine but honest good food in a rather pleasent environment.

The reception was very friendly and personal. We really felt at home and very welcome. We had the eastern menu accompanied by fine wines. The chef was on top of his game and makes the difference. The food was well balanced, and I especially liked the bellpepper crème brulee. Well done. The main dish, lamb chops was good and solid. The chocolate desert was good, but the (abundant ) use of cream made it a tad heavy. The price quality ratio is excellent. This is a good, solid restaurant with a chef who knows the tricks and trade of classic French cooking.

What a surprise of my love. She took me out for a Jazz night and a quick bite at this restaurant. Its all I like, a beer museum in the cellar (350+beers to choose) various of hand made croquettes as starter. My favorite Antwerp stew with Belgium Fries and the real mayonnaise and and and home made âappelmoesâ. And as a side witlof, with cheese and ham from the oven!!! Mennnnnn I like this. Heaven to me â¤ï¸And for dessert the real âDame Blancheâ . This was top notch! Of course no michelin star restaurant, but the ambience, atmosphere and great service makes this a place to go. Thank you very much

"A light and cozy bistro serving gourmet, creative dishes that will surprise and inspire you. That's what I, Roland Philipsen, as an entrepreneur and chef have in mind"
Croquant is a cute small restaurant in a very quaint quarter of Maasticht; my partner and I had dinner at Croquant last weekend....this is a difficult review to write since although we enjoyed ourselves and like the concept of Croquant, the food was nothing more than OK, we were still hungry when we finished our meal, and thought that it was expensive. The specialty croquets and bitter balls were good (not extraordinary) and interesting in variety....shame that we could not find a mussel in the special of day mussel croquet. Our "main courses" were small plates (as correctly pointed out by our server) that were unsatisfying: my partner had the steak tartar which was good but the portion size was painfully small and my risotto was very average; thank goodness we ordered a portion of fries or we would have been starving. The deserts were nothing special. That being said, we had fun....the service was very nice (if a bit disorganized) and the atmosphere very pleasant. Will we return? Probably not - we have done it and need not return. The biggest problem is that we left hungry and ate nothing more than upgraded "frituur" food for over Euro. 100.00 for the two of us.

Afspanning De Swaen in 's-Gravenvoeren (Voeren) already served as a resting place for horse and rider midway through the stagecoach route between Liege and Aachen in the 16th century. Now is the perfect place to enjoy a drink or a meal on the terrace, in
Set in an 18th-century house and courtyard, De Swaen offers local specialities such as trout and cheeses from the region, commonly called the Voerstreek. Yet the real attraction is the cosy atmosphere and extensive beer list, which offers a number of Belgian beers including trappists. Don't miss the Grimbergen Blond, which I understand is not available in the United States. It's a great place to stop to rest if you've been hiking or bicycling in the region. About at 45 minute bicycle ride from Maastricht, Netherlands.
