Damme (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdɑmə]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders, six kilometres northeast of Brugge (Bruges). The municipality comprises the city of Damme proper and the villages of Hoeke, Lapscheure, Moerkerke, Oostkerke, Sijsele, Vivenkapelle (nl), and Sint-Rita (nl). On 1 January 2006, the municipality had a population of 10,899. The total area is 89.52 km², giving a population density of 122 inhabitants per km².

We stopped here on a hot summer afternoon after cycling from Bruges. I decided on a steak and a glass of sangria for lunch. The food was great and the meat was well done. The sauce was also very well textured. The fruits in the sangria could have been cut smaller but either way it was no problem. Will go back when I visit Damme again.

While cruising around in the area we were guided to this place by the positive comments on TA...unfortunately our experience wasn't so great.Average food, (very) arrogant service,...what a shame wasting such a beautiful location. Not a place we would visit again.

Friendly people, always full restaurant.Not open during the weekends!We were asked friendly if we want to sit somewhere else in the restaurant because a big group arrived without reservation. For us, no problem. In return they offered is a free coffee which was very nice of course.Food is always good and more than enough!We had remarks about the taste of the wine (a pretty expensive bottle) we are usee to drink but according to the maître there was nothing wrong with it...The boss of the restaurant always makes a chat with each and every guest. That gives people a welcome feeling, Iâm sure!!

Very nice environment and superfriendly service!Had the 'Paling in t groen' as a recommendation of the chef and it was absolutely marvelous!! I highly recommend this place when you want to visit Damme and want to have a reasonably prized superb diner!

Two of us rode by bike from Brugge in temperatures of 35C and we met four family members for lunch. We were recommended this place by a chocolate shop keeper in Brugge. Great recommendation! Pretty village, nice restaurant and a lovely lunch for the six of us and ALL of the meals were excellent. In hot weather go to the far end of the garden to the picnic tables. Nice and cool.

Two hungry travellers were very lucky to find this restaurant last Friday night. We were blown away by the lovely interior, the very friendly service and the most delicious food.Portions are quite big so bring an appetite. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.

We initially stayed for a week at the De Groene Wandling always having breakfast and occasionally having lunch and/or dinner. We enjoyed the location right next to 2 canals by hiking, bike riding, and/or picnicking every day. As we were visiting my mother who lived nearby and her health took a turn for the worse, we at stayed for another week. We couldn't have been more pleased. The accommodations were wonderful and the food was excellent even by Belgian high standards as well as being reasonably priced. Also, the gracious and warm welcome by the owners made it a real pleasure to be there. We would highly recommend De Groene Wandling to anyone wishing to have a wonderful meal, to stay for a night, a weekend, or even several weeks.Dear Sir David N.Thank you for your visit, your warm engagement and your excellent rating.This kind of feedback motivates us all, with pride and joy !

Chose this restaurant based on previous TA reviews and what a great restaurant.Tasteful decor, friendly and helpful staff.Food sublime, filet of lamb ( nicely matured) cooked to perfection with rosemary jus.Wife had brill with noodles, samphire,hint of spice.Highly recommend this place.

This is a real family restaurant with husband in the kitchen and wife front of house. Beautiful old building with modern additions and a stylish courtyard garden. We visited on a gloomy November day for lunch and they had lit all the candles and the fire so it was welcoming and cosy. Set lunch outstanding value at 39euro - seabass tartare, pheasant with mushrooms, chocolate dessert (with delicious amuse bouches before, and chocolates and waffles with coffee) and we wholeheartedly recommend it!
