Stayed for a day/night as had already paid the campsite. Small town, spread out, not geared for tourists, hardly any eateries. The Chateau looks nice & is probably the only building worth visiting. Wished we had just passed through as wasn't worth going out of our way.

Sunday lunchtime and my wife and I called in this corner cafe hoping for a quick bite to eat while on route to a nearby steam railway. Made to feel very unwelcome from the start,( even though it was half empty there seemed to be a hostile atmosphere in the place which immediately made us feel uncomfortable),one of the two male proprietors( who were very both very unkempt and reeked of stale drink ) eventually gave us a menu from which to choose. At this time I asked for drinks but this was totally ignored. Eventually when the other partner returned and we tried to order from the menu, we got a tirade of abuse in belgian but we got the gist of what was being implied - something to do with this being a restaurant and not a cafe etc presumably because it was a Sunday and they had specials on...... even though they had given us the menu in the first place. At this point we took umbrage and left. Something I've never had to do anywhere else ever. So the food we cannot comment on as we never got any!! However judging by their appearance and demeanour I think we had a lucky escape!!

We just stopped for coffee late afternoon, service was fine, the only thing worth mentioning is that Chimay centre is small and parking is limited, also the road system is narrow and mostly one way.

Used to be the casino. Now changed to restaurant. Still I found some casino equipments as interior. It has a good variety of beer so I enjoyed some kind of beers with simple local dishes. Respecting the area, I started with Chimay and then changed to Orval where is the destination of tomorrow. Its vary casual and staff was working very actively. She does not speak English but tried very hard to communicate with customer using body-language. We did.

During a day trip to Chimay we were told to have lunch at this restaurant. The short trip outside the city was a full success. Their steaks ''Sauce Roquefort" & "Au Champions" were just great. You should have a local CHIMAY Beer (3 different types) with that. NO need to have wine! Price list for all is very reasonable! Excellent value for money. Just try it out yourself and comment .... .

A fairly down to earth place but none the worse for that. Both of us went for a Set Menu of typical Belgian dishes. In my case it was Cheese Croquettes, as Belgian as it comes, and Poteauflette. For those who don't know it this is a rich baked dish of potatoes, onions, cheese, beer and cream (just the job for testing out your Statin!) and, in this case, clearly assembled at the time.Matron had a dish of mushrooms and garlic (the garlic lingered through the night!) followed by rabbit cooked in beer, which was very much to her taste. Desserts were fairly industrial but OK.All was washed down with copious drafts of Chimay beer! One slight caveat. We were there on a quiet, dank October evening, the kitchen is quite small and might be stretched at times in better weather when both restaurant and the tables outside are well populated.

Nicely cooked brassiere style dishes with a modern twist. Egg at 63degC is creamy and nutty. Good fish dishes in tasty butter. Outside terrace is great. One problem, we went two times and both times a lot of waiting. It somewhat took the pleasure out of it.

We found this restaurant thanks to Tripadvisor. We visited Chimay in the afternoon and wanted to eat in the center. Something not to expensive but we wanted something more than a Steak.Loriginal opened his doors at 19h and we were the first to sit.The menu card is not that extended but offered a few menus for a - in my opinion - reasonable price. (55 euro was the most expensive). We choose for the menu of 45 euros: 1 cold starter, 1 warm starter, main dish and a dessert. We received first 2 little starters. Very fine and delicious.About the rest of menu: 1 word.... very delicious !In my opinion....the food of this restaurant is food of a 1 star restaurant !The dishes were like little paintings and very good !This a restaurant worth to visit when you are in the neighbours.
